New Fundraising initiatives from the BDF

Postby Uncle Peter » Fri May 01, 2009 8:14 pm

We are going to trial these on here to see how they go, with a view to launching them both to the wider public at a later date.

The first one is an affiliate shop which can be found at http://www.buy.at/bdf, this feature loads of shops you probably use on a regular basis, but by accessing them through our site the BDF get a commission on everything you buy and the cost to you is the same. It features most of the big retailers (Amazon, Game, Asda, M&S etc.) alongside Insurance companies, Travel agents and Broadband providers. Please take the time to have a look and maybe save it as a favourite, as it will be a massive boost to our coffers.

The second one is that we are looking to set up a system to donate old mobile phones to the BDF, who will then recycle them. Some will be worthless, but other may be worth a few bob which will then be used towards the good of the club. If you have a mobile you wish to donate, you can PM me and we'll arrange a drop off/collection point. We only need the mobile, no chargers/peripherals etc.

During the season (if this takes off) we will be collecting them in the BDF shop on the west terrace, and possibly some other places TBC.

Feedback would be appreciated.

Cracking ideas - I thought the buy-at site had been up and running for a year or so now?

It has, but we've never really promoted it properly. This will hopefully fix that.

Great idea with the online shopping thing. I use Amazon a lot so hopefully you'll get a fair slice.

I just bought something off there via your link. Is that all you have to do for you to get the cut?

John, all you have to do is use the link above to visit a particular site, and thats it, shop as normal.

In the last week, we've had 34 clicks through the site, of which 4 made purchases resulting in commision for the week of £5.92.

Thanks for your support everyone, keep it going. :ayay:

Just to add to this, the main special offer at the moment is that if your looking to sign up to Sky TV at the moment, using our site will raise £75 if you want Sky+ and £100 if you sign up for Sky+HD.

Hmmm, I'm in the progress of getting Sky+HD but I have already talked to an installation firm about it. I'll have a word to see if I can still sign up through the BDF link. Worth a try.

Just did my car insurance thru the site with Zurich, got an excellent quote which should give the BDF £85!

Will be doing the house insurance thru them as well - more money for the fund!

It can vary to be honest depending on the offers at the time, but anything from 2% to 8%.

Help Save Our Environment and Raise Money by Recycling!

On the back of our successful Mobile Phone recycling initiative, The BDF are about to start raising funds by recycling old inkjet cartridges and laser/toner cartridges and your help would be greatly appreciated.

Our organisation will receive £1 for each original empty inkjet cartidge or £5 per empty laser/toner cartridge donated kindly by you, friends, family or colleagues.

If you think this is a good idea and want to help promote our recycling campaign further why not email this to anyone you know.

You can either drop your old inkjets/toner at the BDF megastore on the west terrace, or alternatively PM me and i'll send you some freepost envelopes you can use to send them direct to the recycling company. Each envelope has our own Barcode on, so were guaranteed the money for anything you send which is perfect for exiles. Alternatively you can go to http://www.recycle4charity.co.uk/intels ... rid=C14211 and order the envelopes direct, again free of charge.

Also, if you work for a business which uses printers (which is most places tbh) could you ask if we can have those consumables once used?

Thanks for taking the time to help us and the environment, your support is always appreciated.
