0 - 0 AET

Gateshead win 2 - 0 on penalties

In front of 501
Some say it's a black hole, but this town is a place we call home. Some says it's a black hole, but they'll never know.

Yep because that would make sense, lets get "absolutely battered" and destroy everyone's confidence completely. I can half understand where you are coming from but a 1-0 defeat would still achieve what you are suggesting!

For what it's worth, I don't think going out would be a blessing. It's the best chance we've had of doing something in the Trophy for a long time, and although our position in the league is a bit concerning at present we should still have enough to see us OK over the coming months.

Fair comment - squeaky bum time at the lower end of the table has clouded my judgement, but the point still stands.
We need to lose on Tuesday.

Heed the warnings 2-0 Impotent Republicans of Barrovia

I'm guessing Walker is suspended (yes/no?) and Chadwick cup-tied which means Blundell / Powell up front and that means we'll get nowt.

Gateshead 3 Barrow 0.

The team is not playing with the will and confidence to win at the moment. Pity.

Reaching Wembley could be worth as much as 250K. That's if you add up all the winnings and gate receipts so far, on top of a big crowd at Wembley which you would be guaranteed if a club like Oxford Utd were the opposition.

Imagine how that would help fund next season's campaign. Wanting Barrow to lose is stupid. We haven't got a match on the 20th Feb either.

Barrow to win 1 nil.

PS I've just realised I should be called Garbett, not Garbutt, ah well such is life.....

I'd rather be guaranteed a place in the BSP next year than have a few hundred grand.
No point in having loads of money if the best player we can attract is Lee O'keefe's less talented sister.

going off topic slightly but anyone who says they would rather we were knocked out of this competition only needs to look at York last season.

similar (if not worse position than we are in now last season) got to the final of the FA Trophy and the money they recieved has helped them push up the right end of the table.

Winning the trophy (or getting to the final atleast) sends signals to players, (these guys arent bad) it shows that the team wants something and has the potenital of going places. Yes I admit the league position we are in now is rather strenuous and I would rather be a couple of places and a few more points better off but I'm confident that we can and will pull out of the mess (alot like we did last season) but why not try to get to wembley aswell. (everyone who was at eastbourne last season saw how good our staying up party was there. Imagine it on a better scale under the arch at Wembley in may???

Back on topic:

Gateshead 1 - 2 (aet) Barrow to take the lead, Gateshead to equalise in the closing stages to send the tie to extra time but us to snatch it in a nervey encounter
