I always thought that we were/are the AFC to differentiate from the RLFC…if my memory of the back pages of the Evening Mail is correct. Always struck me that there weren’t many other towns with two teams of different codes of football shared the same (town) name without a Rovers or a Hornets or such...

I was at the Ipswich game and have got a ticket for Northampton. First game was Southend at home in about 1967.
I have family responsibilities that make it difficult to get to matches home or away.

Slight digression here but I was definitely at our last League Cup tie against Preston in 1971 and I think I remember a spectacular own goal by Ambrose Clarke at the Steelworks End...
