Holler St end rail seating
Holler St end rail seating
We’re in need of circa 1000 more seats!
Can rail seating be counted as part of that? If yes then can we put rail seating along the HS . Answers on a postcard to Paul Hornby.
I think the answer is likely to be no as surely other clubs have considered it.
Interesting option though, as surely the rail seats can be moved in the future if necessary.

Re: Holler St end rail seating
I asked the same a while ago on here and was told no it doesn’t count
Re: Holler St end rail seating
Don’t bother putting seats in the holker street end, it’s bad enough trying to watch the game with them bloody stanchions in the way never mind being unable to move around to see because you’ve got seats restricting movement. Stupid Idea, move on.
A few rows along the crossbar end with a temporary roof and let the corporate use it for quick access into the Xbar.

Re: Holler St end rail seating
Not a bad shout but if it doesn’t count guess it’s no go.
Seat the xbar end even if it will look weird and get a small pop up stand on west terrace. Job done.
Our away end is getting some stick on Twitter whilst on the ground subject! Developing a dislike for Bradford fans…

Absolutely spot on and cost effective. 250 seats in cross bar end and a 600 seat pop up stand on west terrace that's our seats sorted and an increased capacity.Steeley wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 11:27 am Not a bad shout but if it doesn’t count guess it’s no go.

Re: Holler St end rail seating
Definitely needs to be on the flat side of the main stand. You only need to be two people back from the wall and you can’t see anything. Perfect place for a load of seats, even if moveable/temporary for now

Popular side since '03.
Re: Holler St end rail seating
We are not short of seats as such but we must have more seats in place to meet an EFL deadline of May 1st next year. We also need to maintain a minimum overall capacity requirement and converting a popular covered terrace to seats would reduce existing capacity, possibly below the limit, needing work elsewhere.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 11:55 amAbsolutely spot on and cost effective. 250 seats in cross bar end and a 600 seat pop up stand on west terrace that's our seats sorted and an increased capacity.Steeley wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 11:27 am Not a bad shout but if it doesn’t count guess it’s no go.

Putting seats on the Steelworks End would marginally improve the look of that end but by itself, as discussed previously, would not get us anywhere near the number we need. (Would anyone want to sit there without a cover? More expense...) Would it be popular, other than with those who enjoy social intercourse with visiting 'keepers?
Hiring a temporary stand to sit on the West Terrace site would perhaps meet the extra capacity but would need to match the alignment of the BA stand for visibility. Unlikely to be available to hire (and do we want to commit to an ongoing hire charge?) and therefore need a bespoke construction. Cover? Would any people sit in it other than people who may prefer to sit there, rather in their existing BA seat? Lots of expense, little extra income.
Looking at the East Terrace, there are lots of untidy/unsatisfactory bits there but any work there would be difficult to carry out due to proximity to the road junction. Demolition would be expensive - then would the resulting space be enough to permit 'away end' turnstiles, access/circulation space and facilities for food/drink service, as well as the required number of seats? Would a significant improvement of the away facilities be an incentive to encourage more away visitors, perhaps including those who have already been and been unimpressed, having left thinking 'Pff Shan't bother again'?
As for those advocating waiting until we are sure of our EFL place for next season before progressing - firstly, poor show! Have confidence in our club, both on and off the pitch. So come the spring when all is certain for the team, do the club begin then to look around for an organisation that is available to build something for us a few weeks later at a time when construction is still booming and materials are still scarce? This would be meat and drink for those whose posts tend to begin It is typical of this club that... or are fond of the word tinpot (which some believe to be 'tinpot' in itself).
So a difficult decision for those who will be planning for the future of the ground and no doubt share those plans with the fans when they have been developed and costed. Hopefully, any 'newbuilds' in the ground would have covers that do not rely upon front supports impeding the view.
Re: Holler St end rail seating
Its not a stupid idea at all. It the most feasible, doable and obvious solution from a cost / quality and timeliness perspective. For every restricted view seat in there (and for how many games a season?) it ticks the boxes in everything else- covered, already started, just finish it off. Bonus- Can be prepared match by match basis for larger away followings. The idea of a few rows of seats in front of the Crossbar and a temporary / separate stand placed at the side of the main stand- seems very short sighted. How can this possibly be easier / less costly? When it is new structures required and cover? - will the Crossbar ever get replaced by a proper stand?bamber678 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 9:05 am Don’t bother putting seats in the holker street end, it’s bad enough trying to watch the game with them bloody stanchions in the way never mind being unable to move around to see because you’ve got seats restricting movement. As for now- at the Crossbar end- two / three steps of terracing could be reinstated there. That would keep capacity up for any lost capacity from seating the HSE.
I understand fully the “keep hS end standing” but let’s have an engineering / feasibility reason as to why that is not being considered.

Re: Holler St end rail seating
The amount of stanchions in keeping the roof from blowing away is the main reason for not seating it. Where I stand currently (directly behind the goal at the back) I’m constantly moving left and right to be able to see what’s happening down the flanks and having seats I wouldn’t be able to move as freely. A row or 2 at the front before you get the to front stanchions might be an idea but to make it all seater makes a terrible stand even worseJonty wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 7:45 pmIts not a stupid idea at all. Re: Holler St end rail seating
It is a terrible stand for restricted viewing from behind the stanchions but the seats in front of the stanchions are elevated and good views and I dare say you could probably get an extra row along the front, the seats at the back could be netted off and opened up as and when needed for bigger games / bigger away following s and restricted views could be sold at a cheaper rate to reflect this.bamber678 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 7:53 pmThe amount of stanchions in keeping the roof from blowing away is the main reason for not seating it. The club (CEO) has not provided any reason as to why it has not been considered for all seating. I am not against the idea of a stand next to the main stand btw- but don’t think it would be the same depth and rake as what is already there and with that in mind would probably have some restricted views itself. I am trying to envisage the best of the options here.

Re: Holler St end rail seating
Jonty; the fact you’re even suggesting the idea of the whole Holker street end being fully seated and giving it to away teams on other posts means you’re not a true bluebird.
I hope the admins ban you!
