Re: Meet the Board Night
It only finished about 10, and there were still folk talking when I left. Long meeting, very hot, sometimes a bit circular, occasionally very forthright, but I didn't go away thinking that anybody didn't have the good of Barrow at heart.
I want to have a wee think about what was said before I post. Some I agreed with, some I wasn't so sure and felt frustrated.
Some folk took notes. Those 1 or two folk that asked me to keep em updated, I will.

Open neck shirt, jacket and trousers.sempre contigo wrote:What was TK wearing?
I thought the occasion called for a tie personally but I guess smart casual is ok.

Hav'nt heard from you for a while Jim. Could'nt you get a fast jet down. I have experience of Typhoons you know.jimcook wrote:Each to their own but I'd love to be home in morecambe and be able to do the 2 hour round trip to attend this, unfortunately I'm working nights in Basingstoke this week.HenneysKnee wrote:I'm not doing a 1 hour round trip
Despite the short notice I think it is important people attend this, it's all well good complaining about the BOD not talking to us but this is the opportunity for them to do so.

Good to see a fair few more than normal attend. A lot of time was wasted on needless waffle in the first half but we got down to the issues a bit more in the second half of the meeting, the main thing was the board admitted they need help (at last) but time will tell whether it can be organised and implemented properly. Lots of other stuff to mention but would need a clear head and time to type it up properly to do it justice if I can be bothered.
I'm not taking any sort of ownership of the club website either which TK seemed to wrongly imply

Re: Meet the Board Night
Dave Ryder (Director) said that it was our (the fans) fault for what was said on the forum was the reason why some players don't sign for us. What a [SwearFilter] stupid statement. He should be ashamed of himself for that. It's all what they do as a board and stuff us the fans. Some of us have travelled thousands of miles in the last 5 seasons and spent a fortune in support of our club and you get that idiot criticising us.We have the right to say what we feel, because we care. I have respect for some, but not all. Just my opinion.
Re: Meet the Board Night
Needless waffle is a bit harsh Tidds.
Sure, it was perhaps a bit repetitive at times and it wasn't really telling us anything we didn't already know but I'm not sure what else could be expected.
I wasn't expecting much and if the truth is told, I mainly went along so I couldn't be accused of hiding behind my keyboard but I thought it was worthwhile and should calm the waters for a few weeks at least.
TK spoke about trying to get away from the 'us and them' situation and I think it's very important that we do that. I'm not sure how easy it will be, as some of the directors seemed to be more entrenched in that mentality than any of the supporters there tonight. I thought Brian was a touch defensive, Russell Dodd and Dave Ryder seemed to be on pretty short leashes and I understand perhaps why they would be given the criticism that the BOD collectively receive but if we are to truly break down barriers, folk need to let bygones be bygones and really buy into it.

Re: Meet the Board Night
Guess Shaun Ryder has more sense that his bro Dave ....WTF was he thinking/saying.
At least Mad Russell can hold on to a lead easier than BAFC

Score more goals than them!
Re: Meet the Board Night
Wrong to make a provocative and inflammatory statement at what was supposed to be a bridge-building exercise. However probably correct to a degree.People who think that players don't log in to forums like this (egos) are as naive as players who don't think fans log in to their twitter accounts. Its a two-way thing. If I were a player looking for a club now and happened on the depression, pessimism and negativity pervading this forum do you honestly think I'd be rushing to phone Bayles for a trial.I'm not saying its a major contributory factor but it is one of them. How many players have we been linked with this close season that have gone elsewhere (three to Hyde alone). Yes money etc is part of the problem but not the whole of it.donny bluebird wrote:Unfortunately, perhaps that statement is true?GTBLUE wrote:Dave Ryder (Director) said that it was our (the fans) fault for what was said on the forum was the reason why some players don't sign for us. Re: Meet the Board Night
Money and our remoteness are the main issues. Fans forums are irrelevant IMHO
