I've e-mailed John with the advantages of having the workshop under the main stand & he's going back to the other directors with the suggestion.barrowscuba wrote:Doesnt the area under the main stand already have lighting and work benches? Why not use an area already half equipped as a work shop rather than start again trying to sort out the bit unde4r the BDF shop?
You might even find some half useful tools under there.

Re: Ground maintianance area
John Mackay got back to me this week concerning where we could have the ground maintainance area & the BoD's have said we can use the area under the main stand. This is a far better space for what we plan on doing.
Myself & mrsenario met John today at the ground to see what we would need to make this as good an area as possible for the use of maintaining all areas of HS. The idea is, either the BoD's/Mike Forsyth or even supporters can point out where work could be carried out to either improve the look of, or repair areas of the ground that need attention (obviously within reason)
We still need -
1/An electrician to look at putting in some power points, lights etc. If anyone can donate some strip lighting, sockets, cable or spotlights that'd also be a massive help.
2/A plumber, for nothing major but a few bit's & pieces.
3/Although quite a few tools have already been promised, we would still like any of the following (a) a transformer (b) chop saw (c) bench/pin drill (d) any battery tools (e) bench grinder......basically anything that would be of use in this type of work space.
4/People to help us clear out and tidy the area we will need.
5/A van or trailer to transport items from around the town to HS.
6/Bit of a tough one this but we need to concrete part of the floor off to work on, as at the moment it is only soil & rubble - open to suggestions on that!
7/Cabinets or shelving.
8/A wheelbarrow.
9/Spades/shovels.
If you can help with any of the above please either pm or reply on here, anything that we can have donated or loaned will save money that can be spent on other items.

Thanks for that Mike, I'll be in touch sometime this week.olbarrafancumbak wrote:Count me in, I will do whatever i can to help
There have been a couple of PM's offering help + some more off a couple of lads who don't come on here.olbarrafancumbak wrote:I thought more people would have stuck their names down tbh, come on peeps this is our chance to show the club that we are serious with our offers to help out where we can, plenty of you suggested that you wanted to help, so lets get on it!
I've got an iron in the fire regarding the floor which would be nice if that came off as it's probably the job we need doing to get us started, if it doesn't come off I'm still open to suggestions because it is quite important that we get that job sorted.

They might of had serious offers during pre-season but I think it hasn't taken off as well as they AND us thought it would. We can moan all we want but if at the end of the day we don't do owt about it, well.....there's no point in moaning in the first place is there?
I think we will be making a start on the area this coming Friday afternoon, probably from 1- ish till about 4 if anyone is interested in helping out.
Still looking for offers on many of the items listed in my previous posts.

Re: Ground maintainance area
Sadly I work all day Friday, and I chucked out a load of stuff that would've been handy in August, compound mitre saw and the like. Bummer.

Thats a fantastic offer capman.capman wrote:How much stuff do you need for concreting the floor, i could get you if it is not a lot
Would you be able to meet me at the main enterance this Friday afternoon at 1:15 pm? If not can you PM me your phone number & I'll get in touch to arrange a time that suits.
BTW I don't know what you would call a lot or even a little in terms of concreting.

Re: Ground maintainance area
If the concreting floor proves too difficult, what about decking it out?? not as messy. I'm sure we could raise enough to purchase a decking base.

Re: Ground maintainance area
Unfortunately I too work until 5pm on Friday's.
Before the safety police appear, I'm sure that most people know that welding/grinding, sparks and wooden decking don't make a good combination. Concrete is the way forward for flooring.

Re: Ground maintainance area
There'll be a local business man coming to the ground on Friday to see if he can help out with the concreting for the floor area, although not yet an offer but at least a show of interest so hopefully between him & Capman we can get something sorted.
Plenty of offers have now come in which is fantastic but we're still looking for some of the items I listed previously, if anyone can help either reply on here or PM.
Don't let them rust away in your sheds or garage's - get them donated to a good cause
