preparation for next year
Whether we are in BSP or BSN i think the preparation from the club should begin immidiately. I would like to see a reduced ticket prices for Under 18's (£3 in BSN £5 in BSP) as well as a reduced adult price (£12 BSP £10 BSN). A early bird deal for both 1/2 and a full season ticket e.g £100 for the first 50 season tickets ect.
Also i think its important for key decisions to be decided early e.g. Full time/Part time, season expectations and get contracts sorted early, whatever league were in the longer we leave the squad unsigned the greater the disadvantage for the beginning of the season - and also for this information to be passed on to the fans asap.
A P.O.A for the summer reguarding volenteers and potential marketing promotions e.g. players going into schools and being around the town to promote the club - i went to penrith and couldnt believe the number of posters around the place for penrith f.c and also players who had other full time jobs were out in the town centre just chatting to passer bys trying to get people interested it was really good to see and something we should be doing.
Going down can provide new oppertunities to learn from some of the bigger mistakes of the last 5 years and correcting them to put the club on a stronger footing - however i have a really bad feeling nothing will get done and the board will do very little to get the town interested in the football again - promotions and correct pricing will help - i dont believe this town doesnt want football, but people need to feel connected with the club and sadly the impression i get is that they dont.

The student price is where you miss out. I'll pay whatever to the end because I'm a die hard (and what) but you wont get [SwearFilter] poor students paying £12. Whats the point the difference they save from an adult isn't even a pint. Charge students 7.50 so they cant get a pint and entry for a 10ner. I know several floating students who wont pay. 12 pound in. 4 home games and an away game in just over a wee. £50 + 48 + pints = deer do watching shite

Cut the beer out and it might ease the cost. What? Wash my mouth out.
Seriously though, this is what makes it an expensive day out for lads. It amazes me how much is spent on alcohol yet complain about £12 to support our team.

The club fanbase is short on the 16-20 year old age group.
There should be 100's coming to watch us in this age group. Are they priced out- or just not into the football?
This is where the club need to focus- getting this group in.

As someone within this age group the reasons I will list below includes why I think we cannot get this age group through the turnstiles.Jonty wrote:The club fanbase is short on the 16-20 year old age group.

- "Why would I want to go and watch a shit team?"
- You need to be hooked from an earlier age, this is why I support the free tickets for schoolchildren etc.
- It costs too much, a student with no part time job might find paying over a tenner to get in a bit of a burden.
- There is an extensive availability of football on TV now and the majority are more interested in watching overpaid players strut their stuff on Satellite TV.
- Unless there is a family member that goes there is nothing to ignite the passion for Barrow. I'm being honest here, a lot of my mates would not know what league we are in if you asked them!
If you stood up and told a group of about 20 people that we have just been [SwearFilter] 4-0 you would get more laughs than groans. It is only going to get worse, and it's not just for our club. It is the state of modern football unfortunately, everyone is more interested in the superstars rather than supporting your own team in your own community.
Popular side since '03.

Matty that is valuable information that the club should use.
3 of the 5 things you mentioned- the club can do something about.

Re: preparation for next year
Agree with what your saying but wouldn't say it's a modern thing. I remember 30 years ago getting laughed at at school for watching barrow get beat in front of 400 fans. Barrow have never had a big following of youngsters and probably never will.Matty wrote:Jonty wrote:The club fanbase is short on the 16-20 year old age group.

I'm a student and I know quiet a few who say " I'm not paying that much" so perhaps we need to bring the Student offer back again for atleast a season since Rome wasn't built in a day

We used to have a student discount back in the 90's. I believe it was withdrawn as it was widely abused by people borrowing their unemployed friends UB40's.

There still is discount for students, £11 entry with a NUS card although I have never had my card checked, perhaps £9 entry and being more stringent on checking ID cards might encourage a few more though the gates. Psychologically £9 feels a lot cheaper than £11 (under a tenner argument) and checking cards stops abuse of it because NUS cards (or other NUS validated ID) has a photograph.DaveC wrote:We used to have a student discount back in the 90's. Re: preparation for next year
The young ones are the next generation in supporting BAFC. I fear for what will happen to our fan base in the future. I think the club should do kids go free for one game, even without a paying adult. Get a load of kids in to sample at least one Barrow game - if they don't like it, fair enough, but some of them may enjoy it and come back.
Regards student prices, I do think it's a tad pricey - I had to miss at least one of the home games last week because I simply couldn't afford it. I thought the £7 offer was superb, but I understand the club won't be able to stick to that price for a full season.

Re: preparation for next year
Under 11s free without any restrictions at all on who comes with them
Under 16's £2
Students/U21 £5 with card
O.A.P's £5
Rest of us £10 to stand, £11 to sit.
Two adults and 2 kids, one u11 and one u16 would cost £22
We lose loads because of the price gap between U16 and adult.

Re: preparation for next year
Nice sentiment 95, But when the BoD continue to undermine the various fans efforts to reduce running costs & all the fundraising scheme's its kinda self defeating and pointless, When BoD hold the AGM's and Pay the Accounts on time and save the club Thousands more folk will offer to help.bigmac95 wrote:Whether we are in BSP or BSN i think the preparation from the club should begin immidiately. Now I applaud all the efforts to fundraise ( I used to support every effort & offered various idea's how to do likewise etc ) but recently lots of people I know & 'me included' have said they are stopping all financial aid as in effect they are enabling the BoD to carry on with their bad practices as they are paying for their mistakes, this gets the club nowhere and just alienates long standing supporters against them, lose/lose situation, sad times.
At least Mad Russell can hold on to a lead easier than BAFC

It's £12 for students to get in the ground. Thats how much I'm charged when I go in the X bar end. And it should be any student card thats in date, I don't get this affiliation with an NUS card. Not all students have one and I doubt the club get anything of the NUS.corner 91 wrote:There still is discount for students, £11 entry with a NUS card although I have never had my card checked, perhaps £9 entry and being more stringent on checking ID cards might encourage a few more though the gates.
