Don't post on here often anymore but just wanted to say I don't blame DB for any of this. I hope he wants to stay with us and we can move forward as a club. Big clear out in the summer needed. Lets start with 2 decent centre halfs who want to head the ball and like to tackle and put the ball into row Z when needed. I'm looking forward to the end of the season now, had enough of football it's just too painful sometimes ! .. Ps Lets [SwearFilter] hammer Workington next season

Just got back to Barrow from the game, and first of all I would like to clarify that despite what the people on the radio might have said, myself and the majority of Barrow fans stayed until the final whistle and applauded the players off, though god only knows why.

We really were dire tonight, no passion or commitment, and I don't think we would have scored if we had played until Saturday. The majority of the players that played tonight really should be ashamed of themselves, how they can go out onto that pitch in a game which we really needed to win and play like they did is beyond me. There were a good 20-25 Barrow fans there tonight I would say, all expecting a performance but what we witnessed was nowhere near good enough. It didn't help with it being 18 quid to get in.

First half we were ok, solid at the back and a good chance from a shot by Skelts, who put in a good shift as always tonight, one player who does his best every single game. But the second half was a disaster, it was like we were down to 8 or 9 men. Far too much space for Alfreton to play in and some frankly comical defending from us led to their goals. Shocking defending from supposedly conference standard players. You can blame Bayliss and Hoskins and whoever as much as you want, but you can't put passion and effort into the players, they need to find that themselves, and they quite simply haven't in the last few games, including tonight.

Alfreton were't that good, and we really could have beaten them, but how many times have we said that this season :x

I have always had hope that we could stay up and if the players matched the effort the fans put in to get to the games we wouldn't be in this situation. However, to put it lightly the lack of passion and desire to win from most of the players tonight, was quite frankly disgusting.

Do I know you as you seem to know me when you refer to me by my first name? You should have come over and spoken to me at the game. We could have had a good discussion. I suppose as you make so few posts (haven't really noticed you before this) I should be honoured that I appear to be uppermost in your thoughts amidst all that went on last night.

Why are yous clapping them off after that ? You've just said how shocking they were with no fight, yet you clap. I'm not saying boo but no response by the Barrow fans might of been better. You can support them how you want(good on you for getting a lift down there)

I just don't get happy clappers.

Well done to those that went to that.. I couldn't bear even to listen.

Off field drift in the summer resulting in problems recruiting and financial problems. +

A town that doesn't bother it's backside unless it's the cup or we're doing well, in a league where that's very hard.+

Repeated errors from management re substitutions, line ups and negative football.+

Players, who should be ashamed of their spineless performances, but will reap the harvest by not having a job in football next season(and if they were not paid, well apologies for that but you would still have pride in your own performance at work and hope to get something better elsewhere). Only one or two exempt from this, but even they've played shite a lot of the time.

I'm going to Cambridge on Saturday purely because lots of people I like are going and as we are going out, let's go out with decent backing and our heads up, the result is immaterial now. All the snipers and the haters and the Itoldyousoers on this board and in the town can GIRUY.

If Dave Bayliss is reading this, and I hope he isn't, thank you very much for the 5 years and some wonderful memories. That's it now though isn't it.

The End :(

Well that was as depressing an evening of watching a ball being kicked anywhere as one could witness. If we had been the only team on the pitch we would never have scored and that has been the position for most of the season. It's obvious Boyes has missed the partnership of Cook. How a narrow piece of wood can be hit so many times and yet the larger space between the posts missed is beyond me. There seemed to be a defeatist attitude from the off as they trudged out at the start, no bounce and little desire was the message being sent out.
Danny Hurst was a tower last night gaining the praise of the Alfreton fans around me. Peo put in a good shift first half as did O'Donnell who I think would have done well for us if it hadn't been for his injury. Skelts and Garry Hunter did o.k. but the midfield was missing in action.
Boyes looked as if he wanted to keep walking every time they went back to the centre circle to restart the game following the goals.
We seemed to have the gift of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in too many games over the season.
Andy Wood needs to get his eyes tested if he reported all the Barrow fans had left before the end as, whilst not great in number, we were easily identified i.e scarves, shirts etc and were there until the end. Don't make it worse than it was.
Now for Cambridge.

Agree with you about Andy Woods comments - I was behind the goal in the 2nd half with 20 or 30 others and didn't see a single person leave.
Respect to Skelts, Peo and Hurst for the long trudge up the slope at the end of the game to applaud the fans.
Enough has been said on the game and I'm sure most know my feelings on the manager and state of the club.
Seriously concerned about whether we make it through to the start of next season without unprecedented changes to the clubs entire structure.
Score more goals than them!

Although mathematically, Barrow can still survive, it is highly improbable they will pick up two wins from the remaining games.

The manner in which the team capitulated on a chilly evening in Derbyshire was incredibly demoralising. The first half with Barrow playing down the slope was pretty even and very uneventful. Both teams were playing as if their season was already over. Barrow was oh so predictable. Every time Hurst had the ball in his hands it was a long punt upfield towards Boyes, and the Alfreton number 6 just lapped up every ball. There were glimpses of passion and positive play from Barrow but they were few and far between in that first 45 minutes. The one rough point was the referee's failure to give a penalty for a scything challnege on Ryherford as he jinked passed two defenders. Mind you, after Baker's penalty on Saturday, I wouldn't have put the house on us scoring.

So, will Barrow have the fight for the second half. Not in a month of Sundays. Within two minutes of the restart, a silly free kick given away on the left hand edge of the area. The ball was fizzed over the three man wall, Hurst fumbled the shot and it was a simple tap in for 1-0. From that point on it went from bad to worse. There was absolutely no urgency, structure or passion for getting out of this situation. To say the players didn't care is probably too harsh. The reality was they are just not good enough as a team.

It is true, some individuals are worthy of this level of football, and our wonderful club. On this showing, I would show the door to all except Hurst (for his quality despite a few recent costly mistakes), Skelton (the only one who has shown any passion), and maybe Boyes (the only one who knows where the opposition goal is). I have long been in support of Dave Bayliss, and it is true he really has had nothing to work with in terms of budget and behind the scenes management, however, even I am now wanting him to be shown the door. His approach to the media in recent weeks is also reminscent of Alex Ferguson's spat with the BBC - in these times, this really is a pathetic and unaaceptable way to conduct yourself as manager of a club (or any other business for that matter).

Once goal number two had gone in, that was it. Despite Alfreton having absolutely nothing to gain, it was they who harried Barrow every time they got the ball. It was their manager barking instructions from the touchline while Bayles sat in the dugout, and it was they who just went for the jugular and bagged another two goals.

It was a clear indication of the poor quality of Barrow's sqaud when two of the three substitutes used were Flynn and McConville. They are not BSN quallity, never mind BSP.

Unless miracles really do happen (and I am sure they won't), Barrow will be plying their trade in the Conference North next season. Wholescale restructuring of the team is now required. We will have to go back to part-time status. Maybe Skelton in some sort of management role (player-manager?). He certainly deserves to remain.

Dark days at the end of a poor season. Over the last few years, the euphoria of the Conference North play off final, two FA Cup third round ties at Premier League opposition, and the unforgettable Trophy win at Wembley have all been dismissed to the back of the mind at a very unforgettable "Impact Arena" in Derbyshire. Where they get off charging £18 for entry is ridiculous!!

Will still be supporting the club as that is what we do, but nevertheless, a very disappointing end.

There has been some indication from various sources that there is a problem with player’s wages again which might account for last night’s dereliction of duty. Personally, if I wasn’t getting paid by my employers I wouldn’t be there, I certainly wouldn’t be working for ‘pride in my professional performance’ as Andy Legge seemed to mitigate with on RC last night. Walking away is the only way you can salvage any pride from such a situation, it would also put catastrophic pressure on the BoD if no one literally turned up to play.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

It would have been much worse last night if it hadn't been for at least 4 excellent saves from Hirst

I didn't clap the team at the end they didn't deserve it

I don't know what's been going on behind the scenes but I'm sure it's not been a good season - but the seeds were sowed last Pre season - amateurs doing the jobs of professionals / offers of help refused unless it financial or cleaning etc / no proper strategy / a lack of commercial activity and fans raising money whilst the club gets fined for not filing accounts.

Last night the Alfreton boss was shouting instructions to his team the whole game - the Barrow management have given up by the looks of it - I can take us going down but let's go down fighting

If players haven't been paid then i do feel for them - it isn't the first time is it and I'm guessing they will be paid just late - I'm assuming Danny L Rowe will be paid by Fleetwood and he was the worst player on the pitch

They haven't got a fight in them Charlie,
More interested in their lads holidays in the summer,
Betting
And nights on the sofa watching Geordie shore or whatever the frig they call it.
Going to be a long time before we return,

The real fight starts now, from the bottom work our way up.

As Chris said on another topic, the club needs sustainability, if it means being involved at the bottom end of Bsn then so be it.
