Can't blame any of them for getting themselves fixed up early but it does leave a bad taste and perhaps left them with divided loyalties.
For example, anyone who has signed for Hyde, Gateshead or Southport might rather one of those sides stayed up rather than ourselves.
Food for thought.

I don't see how this could be possible, the vast majority don't have the quality and don't deserve to have other clubs sniffing around them before their contracts expireAdam29 wrote:11 players apparently signed pre contracts for other clubs.

Baker, Boyes, Harvey and Hurst, could easily play well for another BSP team. Problem at this level is inconsistency.geobarrovian wrote:I don't see how this could be possible, the vast majority don't have the quality and don't deserve to have other clubs sniffing around them before their contracts expireAdam29 wrote:11 players apparently signed pre contracts for other clubs.

Look at Almond/Martin. Two quality league players who we loaned. First time great, on their return poor. Now they are both playing well again.
As a team we were poor. We had a few decent individuals ON THEIR DAY. Sadly they didn't have many collectively.
You don't get always what you deserve in football, but honestly, we got what we deserved, relegation.
Stood behind Ray Wilkie for years. Best education I ever had.

Good riddance to most of them, does this mean most of them actually had new clubs sorted before our relegation was confirmed?.Adam29 wrote:11 players apparently signed pre contracts for other clubs.

Agree with all of that.thegaffer77 wrote:Baker, Boyes, Harvey and Hurst, could easily play well for another BSP team. Problem at this level is inconsistency.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Assuming we get relegated - who would you keep next seas
We undoubtedly won't be able to hold on to many players and the likes of Boyes, Baker, Harvey, Hunter & Hurst will definitely be on their merry way. Of the rest I would like to keep Owen but expect him to join Chester. Would have both Peos and we may have a chance with keeping them. Would love to keep Skelts (as player manager if Bayliss goes). Ruthers, Danny M Rowe and Dawson would be great in BSN but don't expect to see any stay. Danny "Leadenboots" Rowe and McConMan can do one. I suspect O'Donnell will invoke his relegation clause and we may be better off without him as he seems injury prone.
Who does that leave? Matty Flynn - would actually keep him as I think he would be fine in BSN. Hessey would be good in BSN but don't expect to see him back. Similarly Williams would be great if we could get him back on loan although he too looks like he might be made of glass.
We have to face the fact that we are going part-time and will now have to scrap to for whoever we can get.
Aaron Cole anyone? .........

Re: Assuming we get relegated - who would you keep next seas
I don't think it will be that much of a scrab for players.
The problem we had was our half half status.
We were full time but in a part time way, this meant we were never going to attract full time players here due to not being able to afford to pay them full time contracts, and the part time players were priced out as thy couldn't afford to give up jobs to come here/stay here I.e McNulty, Henney etc.
Now we are part time it opens the doors to the part time players and a club like barrow despite relegation should still be a big pull for part time players around the north west, even in conf north we should attract crowds of around 700 and that attracts players to come here

Re: Assuming we get relegated - who would you keep next seas
I agree with Adams post. part/full time was an experiment that hasn't done us any favours at all & has probably cost us a lot of money.
The players didn't seem to benefit much from it either (apart from wage wise possibly) as we never seemed to learn from the mistakes that have haunted us all season (corners, set pieces etc) Nothing seemed to flow properly from the start as you would expect it to being more full time than not, whether thats because of injury disruptions, DB's tactics or simply the players weren't good enough to listen to the manager & take that on to the pitch.
Part time is a far better option for a club of our size.
