Be a fantastic partnership to get in place with Furness College. Hope the bod are really supporting you with this Ian. Would be great if the Furness College Engineering Design students could be invited to draw up plans for a lightweight polycarbonate roof for the HSEnd. Recent innovations in lightweight materials may now offer feasible solutions for the HSEnd roof- and indeed something for the Crossbar End. Would be interesting to see an alternative feasibility study carried out led by Furness College.

- What we really need is the board to put a a 3-5-10 year vision for the ground maintenance that uses as much local resource and support as we can get and also leads to a redeveloped ground over time.

Tommy fitted the doors to the Disabled Area this morning and they look superb. I am sure those using this facility in the winter months will appreciate the thought and the effort put into the work involved.
Well done.

I have ordered a new ice bath today. Multi person one so they can all shiver together. Hope it arrives before Bayles finds out what happened to the previous one. Dirty scratty looking thing we got from Newport I believe. It took Les about an hour to empty it. This one---5 mins.

The Princes Trust students finished today and, bless them, they had a collection for the club which Anne handed over. Kids with no job, so therefore not much cash, doing this makes you realise how kind people are. Good luck to them and hopefully they will gain employment.

When I first offered my services for the cleaning duties the place had an air of neglect and was looking decrepit. In the space of a few months what a transformation by the Maintenance squad. I remember trailing round the ground in the pouring rain for 2.5 hours picking up litter and now because the message is getting across it takes a lot less time. The drive and determination of Ian Rainford, who never gave up when barely a handful of people turned up, made this all possible. He is like a man inspired (expired at the hands of his wife if he doesn't ease up a bit). The squad has grown larger and more skills are available.
A great commitment by those who have the time to volunteer and also an enjoyable one.

We organised for Elaine to officially open the disabled doors after they have had a finish coat of Chelsea blue then she can remove the masking tape to the Perspex , quick clean and voi-la.
Also this morning, I delivered the newly upholstered physio bench and me and les carried to the first aid room where it will stay, the board decided that the one already in the first aid room should go to the away dressing room so now in place also.
There was also a call today for a wipe board outside the workshop(maybe in a thin cupboard with persex front) so we can communicate better to those not with computers but retired and go down the ground through the day..so we can say what needs doing on the summer plan and also generally around the site so we can communicate better. This could speed up some jobs

Have to word this properly, Elaine got on the new physio bench to test it down the crossbar end and I suggested getting on her and posting a picture but les came down the tunnel!!!!!

The skills we have to hand are unbelievable and a credit
To all of us who turn up and do there bit,
Looking forward to Sunday morn as what a good squad
We have, and the banter is class which is why it never feels
Like work,

Love been a part of it been honest and I'm always
Trying to drag new fans with me and a few are going to come
This season with me to watch 'class' football at what's becoming
A good place to play :D

Well done to tommy for the door and bench
We're making a difference and that's all we all want is to make
A difference so it's a good place to watch football
And if Baylis has his way we'll be playing top football
Love many, trust afew, but always paddle your own canoe ! My spelling is gash

Sorry Tommy but the masking tape etc has been removed as requested and I have had a good peer through the perspex and it is fine.

You might be lugging that bench back again because the one that is in the away shower room is far too big. There's barely any room to get through the shower doorway. All that one needs is a good Holkerbird scrub and it will be like new. Back it goes.

Good lad as it is dark. There are no windows in there giving off any natural light.

Don't forget this Sunday, we are open from 7.30 am as it looks like a Barby Sunday(early finish required to avoid divorce)....

Next Tuesday, I,ll resume the normal sessions from 6.00pm onwards for the midweek club with no Rainford bossing us about!!!!!!

Quick reminder for anyone thinking of going to the ground tomorrow - gates open at 7:30 away for dinnertime.

Plenty of jobs as usual.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Still need 2 x 1000mm base kitchen units to put sinks in the stewards room and the BDF shop.

2nd hand will do, or if someone has a spare £80 that they don't need anymore ;)

Neil, If we don't get two donated can we just not buy one & just use a kitchen worktop for the other 1,000 m/m? Surely they don't need two units in there that will end up doubling the cost for no reason!

Or am I missing something?

I've heard rumors circulating about a possible roof around the HSE - is this correct? I heard that its being built by the volunteers, so I kinda guessed I should ask here!
