I think you are deliberately missing the point and hanging onto this badge crack. I'm not saying change the badge- i'm saying it happens. i don't think you are disregarding anything by modernising, You can still pay homage to history whilst looking ahead. You wouldn't expect Arsenal to give up the cannon but they've updated their badge. Likewise it's happening at Everton now.Kieran wrote:So what?Jonty wrote:look around and you'll see it is happening elsewhere as part of any ongoing change- you know - "out with the old in with the new" sort of thing.
Other clubs are disregarding years of history and tradition, so we should do the same? This is one of the massive things that is wrong with today's game.
Sorry Jonty, but these are amongst the worst suggestions I've ever seen on this forum.
Looking ahead- perceptions of the club.

"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Haven't Everton upset quite a lot of their supporters by doing this, though?Jonty wrote:You wouldn't expect Arsenal to give up the cannon but they've updated their badge. Likewise it's happening at Everton now.

The club to the people of this town will always be "the soccer", changing the name or the badge won't attract new fans, but it will lose old ones.
It's not the brand that's bad, it's some of the people representing it.

My perception of the club at the moment isn't very good and nothing will change it until the so called "Squeaky Clean"BOD and present Management are replaced with people who are trustworthy.......at this present time I can see this club going under and that makes me very sad ,after the 60 odd years support I have given to Barrow AFC

Petition with 22,000 signatures against the new badge means that it will revert to a more traditional one for next season. The issue really was the removal of the motto. To be fair, it never really bothered me because I don't follow a badge.Steelworks End wrote:Haven't Everton upset quite a lot of their supporters by doing this, though?Jonty wrote:You wouldn't expect Arsenal to give up the cannon but they've updated their badge. Re: Looking ahead- perceptions of the club.
Why do you keep asking for Neil doherty to be next manager?,Neil was a great servant to the club but is not management material at this level.people have a massive misconception of the barrow performance centre and think its. The "barrow academy" and a route to possibly moving up into semi pro football.the reality is that Neil's a good businessman and the performance centre is his business.you have to pay to go and train, pay to play and pay to enter any tournaments.its not run like an academy and doesn't have the best local players in its teams and once recruited via a one day selection day then no player ever gets released unless by choice.
Now do you honestly think Neil would put this business along with his insideout football and dance in jeopardy to come in and manage the club as it is now.?doc is an excellent kids coach and a great guy but in no way is he a manager at this level.im sure there are a good few managers that are experienced at this level that would put themselves forward for the job. What they may not realise is just how their hands are tied with our current budget and gates the way they are and the way the club is spiralling downwards.its a mammoth task for anyone and Dave Bayliss only has very limited resources that won't improve for quite some time.whats the answer???- I don't know as I've lost all interest and so have the kids at mo.

Re: Looking ahead- perceptions of the club.
It,s not rocket science.Football is a results game clear and simple.Always has been.Always will be.Give us entertaining football on a saturday afternoon.Leave everything on the pitch after 90 odd minutes. Get the tactics correct.Show us the passion.Get this right and the results will bring in that audience of 900 plus.only then will this club move forward attracting the would be buyers. At the end of the day its down to the manager and players to get the town buzzing about "the Soccer!"The support is out there as has been proved in big game attendances.Get the team on the pitch believing and the rest will happen naturally.Always been the way. And all help from fans in what ever capacity such as ground improvement team etc will go hand in hand to make Barrow AFC a success.yes i,m an optimist regarding this club.Have been just about all my life.We are still here after some very dark times.Ultimately, who ever sits on the BOD it is the team on the pitch who will dictate the return of the missing fans.Confident? yes i am.Head buried in sand? No.We have a talented squad of players here at HS.Bayliss is the manager like it or not.I follow Barrow AFC not the manager.
Seasons to be cheerful.Part 16 3/4
