Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Any more for Sunday? Think we have seven, perhaps eight confirmed including the first visit off one of the college brickies.
As usual, a PM, text, e-mail or phone call would be ideal just to help plan what we're doing, otherwise just turn up & we'll find plenty for you to do
Stu, can you let your Dad know it's on this week, he normally asks me every home game but with us being away this weekend he might not know.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Ok whitty's mk 1 and 2. Just run the cable in and moved flexy out of the way.....are we getting a rcd? The joiners can now put the panels up and once we connect up, we can just cut the old flex out... I probably wont be there sunday but give me a bell anytime chaps.

Looking like we're on our own electrician-wise tomorrow Nige.bigcod123 wrote:Whittys are you down tomoz? Might be able to get an hour or 2 in?
Last reminder for anyone, we open up at 9:00am.....it's a great hangover cure smashing holes in the ground, building garages or knocking breeze blocks about, if your heads banging a bit too much for that try our more sedate form of cure which is a wander around litter picking or painting, if your really, really suffering try spending the morning with the press box crew, they seem to spend more time drinking tea or coffee than anything else
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Good turn-out of eleven today.
Two of the college lads turned up (not supporters & totally as volunteers) & they repaired the small dividing wall by the directors seated area, sorry lads, I can't remember your names. I think with all the high winds we've been getting lately the small gate has took a battering & ended up pulling the breeze blocks apart. Anyway it's done.
Tommy abc was busy digging away at the foundation trench for the new wall on Wilkie Rd & was then joined by one of the college lads who by this time had knocked off the repairs on the smaller wall. I think another lad from the centre on Rawlinson St was also helping with the foundation work, I think his name is Tony.
Mike Forsyth put up two sponsors for the BDF that have gone onto the front face of their shop, good one to get out of the way that as Russ has been asking me for weeks now. He also helped Al carry the rest of our donated scaffolding poles into the GMA.
The press box crew were reduced to two this week, Ian RVJ & Pete Nichols & they seemed to put a cracking shift in, in there. Now here's the strange thing, Exile wasn't here this week & the pair of them didn't have anywhere near as many tea breaks as normal..............
Had a quick look in there before we went home & the first section is really starting to come together now. Nearly all the boards are up & everyone of them has been insulated behind, the kitchen work tops that were donated are now also starting to be fit along the back. Next phase will be getting that first area painted.
Bigcod 123 was pottering around with the wiring that enabled the boards to finally go up in the press box. Never got to see exactly what you were doing with the Nigel but I'm sure you'll be able to pass it on to Whiity 69 so he can carry on.
First visit by boyliegladbach today & he never stopped. He must've made a dozen or more wheelbarrow runs to the skip which is at the other side of the ground. It's amazing how much crap builds up in there that we just don't seem to get the time to dump so that was a cracking shift put in by Al & one that desperately needed doing.
I think he's a serious contender for taking away the "smashing up duties" off Barrowaberdeen
Mrsenorita took photo's!
Only joking planner.
He made another rack for the third bay, this now has all the kitchen worktops in all stored in nice & easy reach, he'll now be making a second one for all the rest of the wooden boards & doors to be put away tidily (is that a word
)
I spent another morning trying to sort out what we need & whats scrap or just plain rubbish. All the gear we got last week is taking some serious sorting but we're getting there now.
We have an absolute shed load of scrap metal now waiting to get weighed in which we'll be doing this Friday afternoon in Ian RVJ's van.
Good mornings work put in by everyone considering the weather did it's best to put people off.
Hope I never missed anyone off, sure I'll get told if I have though.
Never did an update from Friday just gone but there was more sorting of the donated items from last week by myself & Tommy.
Rattle was also there on his crusade to plate the bottom half of the players tunnel with his galvonised sheets, he's now well underway with fitting the perspex for us on the top half. We might finish this off with a roof made from the left over cladding sheets sometime over the coming months.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Good morning helped finish the wall and point it with
Young collage lad can't remember his name
But good little worker and nice lad to boot
Had another lad with me tony who helped dig footings
Still a lot to go at seems to be more and more to do !
Going to get there next Sunday and finish off footings
And hopefully get footings in for wall to be done
Always nice when new people turn up and you can put
A face to the name

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Thanks Renfrew Refugee, we got your springs & threw them in with the rest of the scrap.
Thanks also to anyone who gave us any scrap metal, Myself, mrssenorita & Ian RVJ got it all weighed it in today & picked up a lovely £104 off it, just goes to show all them smaller bit's & pieces add up very nicely.
Quick tidy of the workshop & alls looking good.
Rattle & Andy were down fixing some more of the perspex on the players tunnel, only thing thats spoiling it a little is the old mesh that was already in place, we'll have to have a think about that to see if we can improve it somehow.
Elaine was also there cleaning out all the toilets & showers, she called us "part timers" as we left, I think that [SwearFilter] Ian RVJ's concience becuase he went back
Gareth was also there & he's managed to get us some more cabinets for the GMA.
The ground & pitch were looking quite decent in the sunshine.....can't wait for tomorrow now.

Re: Ground Maintenance Area
Thank goodness Ian had a conscience. I did a 9 hour stint there yesterday and if Ian hadn't helped me out by baling out the dugouts God only knows how much longer I would have been there. The water was really deep and the players would not have been able to sit in either dugout.Of course I couldn't just leave it there and then had to clean the seats for their little botties.spirit of 1990 wrote:

The toilets were flooded too. Rattle was there until about 5pm and then Gareth came back until about 6pm. Lots of hard graft put in by one and another yesterday, with certain people doing a good impersonation of Harold Steptoe and son.
If Trevor Jones is reading this I noticed the skip needs emptying again if you could be so kind as to arrange that we would be much obliged and thanks.
