I said on another thread we need 2 full backs 3 more midfielders including a ball winning beast and a winger plus one more forward. I'll now add a pacy hard working centre half.

At least half a dozen of what we've got can go on loan to the Unibond

Just watched barrows highlights , my initial thoughts on Sunday that it was not a free kick for 3 rd goal look correct, he just fell over.
Although he made 2 mistakes for the goals I felt sorry for cowps and the new lad as Hyde had 2v1 on them in nearly every attack due to us having no wide men to assists them in defending.

Almond was very good Sunday.

I thought we really lacked any kind of wing play.

Ledsham seemed to be on the left, wouldnt have thought he was a left winger, more of a central player, Gorman was on the other wing and just cut inside all the time, didnt take a man on, he was poor. No wonder Cowps was getting battered, Cowps was awful but I cant blame the lad entirely for his display.

We don't play as a team,Cowps was having a mare against Hughes but had no body either in front or behind him to help.Fylde had three of their players closing us down and the Hyde players worked for one another and did the same.
Louis Almond did have a good game but he does against us but nobody else it seems....wonder why :o

Just watched the highlights and we are becoming very ordinary. We should still make the play-offs but that is about it.

Just seen the highlights, Cowps had a stinker. Definitely not good enough for this level,
Skinned time and time again. Its back to Penrith I'm afraid.....

To be fair to Cowps, apart from the Hyde game, has he done much wrong this season? Got a decent run of games under his belt at the start of the season and was performing consistently. Left out the team for a while, comes back, bit rusty, has a stinker. It happens.

In the home game against Hyde he was moved into defensive midfield because of an injury and was arguably MOM for the remaining 70mins

Sorry chaps, Cowps really is not good enough. Could add another 6 players to the list but rather not get in to that.

Think most teams at whatever level need the utility type player Neil. The problem with that type of player is they're obviously not specialised & therefore never really shine, but are for the most part adequate.

Horrendous mistakes by Cowps the other day but you have to feel for the lad with being out for so long & thrown into a team that had struggled of late.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

No doubt he had a large part in the fault for a couple of goals, however hes trying to get the ball back to the GK, why? Why are the rest of the team running out of ideas and giving a make shift right back have to attempt to knock it back there, especially when you look at who we were playing.

Have we had any comments from DE on Sunday's game? Was he interviewed on Radio Cumbria? It would be interesting to have his thoughts.

Listening to Edmo last night on Radio Cumbria, he summarised the game beautifully saying that too many players failed to perform. They seem to lack confidence and were probably suffering as a result of the poor results over the Christmas period. He clearly understands the game and had no problem in explaining why some time you have to play the ball long - it's nonsense to think that teams at this level can play fast flowing, fluid and attractive football for 90 minutes. I also thought he was extremely honest in saying that he always questions his own decisions and that he believes that other managers should do likewise. Edmo was clearly disappointed by the result against Hyde saying that he understands that supporters are feeling frustrated. He sounded quite emotional and asked people to be patient - success will follow. Hyde proved more of a challenge than expected but people should remember that there are no easy games, push overs or guaranteed 3 points in this league. Perhaps people have been unrealistic and automatic promotion is beyond this team. This might not be Barrow's year but Edmo will eventually turn things around - stay confident and keep faith with Edmo.

Just watched that and it was dreadful.

It's not as if we were unlucky there, we are quite simply not good enough in too many areas.

As for Almond- He's good enough for any team in this league and very surprised he's not playing in a more successful side.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

In each of his spell's here he was always very impressive but at the end of the loan periods he looked nothing like the player we'd had at the start. The way DB used him or just not good or consistent enough? Probably a bit of all three.
