Dino, you're all over the spot mate. You and your lad need to take it on the chin and get over it. This happens every 5 mins in pro football, you're not guaranteed anything.

Whether right or wrong, English clubs are looking for role models and lads with potential to improve. When I was 16, I spent 80% of the season on the bench at Blackpool and thought I was going to get the chop. But I was given a 2 year full time contract because my attitude was what set me apart from the other lads.

You have to put your trust in the club, they wouldn't have made the decision to spite anyone.

If I'm honest, it sounds like a parent that can't take no for an answer, and venting your frustrations on here is not the place to do it.

Seen it all before my friend.........................what's different here compared to the hundreds of lads that get released every season, at every other club in the country, whose parents think the sun shines out of their arse?

I've got a suspicion that this won't be the last time a parent thinks their kid should not have been let go.

I don't think its got anything to do with his son being let go per se. He's said at length thta he understands and accepts the way things go BUT its the way its been done and the stupid reference to matters including drugs which doesn't sit well with a club professing to encourage families and the future. Who the hell will even give barrow a try if thats the way they intend to carry on. Sad, getting it very wrong. :(

I understand that, but the decision and statements wouldn't have been made without reason.

And a high-level investigation wouldn't be announced without a reason.

To sum up the tweets from Steve Shaw with the latest developments:

Paul Casson has revealed that an employee has been sacked from his position with the BarrowAFC Performance Centre/Community Initiative over a letter that was apparently given to released players. There has been talk of this on the Barrow internet forum. The letter was written in Alex Meechan's name, but Meechan "did not write that letter, had no knowledge of it, did not authorise the publication of that letter and did not even know it was sent out," Casson says Barrow have dealt with the person who wrote the letter, and was responsible for its content. Casson also says the letter that he would never "authorise or countenance", nor would Edmo or anyone else.

Discuss.

WELL DONE Mr Casson on dealing with things so quickly & efficiently. As I said previously to those commenting who hadn't a clue what had gone on,don't comment unless you know exactly what's gone on first hand.NOT a case of sour grapes by "Dino"-just terrible behaviour by individual(s) at the Performance Centre. No consolation to lads "released" without the knowledge of the owner, manager or Head of Youth, but,at least those responsible for their fraudulent actions have been taken to task?

For the attention of the doubters, the moaners and the people who thought they could have a go at me on here and the ones who think i'm just a moaner.

The performance centre has 1 game left on March 22nd, when the final whistle goes in that game my sons career and time with the centre is over along with many of his team mates, they have reached an age where they are now to old to play next season. I have know this since long before the season started, i accept this and so does Mikey.
With no Reserve or U21 team in place there is nowhere for him or the others to go to continue at Barrow AFC. Ok so he was finished before the last game, a game in which he might not have even played having not been selected for the last 2 and missing games before that with injury. Being let go by the performance centre was something that COULD NOT have been avoided.

Being let go a week early isn't an issue, if you were to be retiring from work at the end of the month and the company decided to let you go early there would be no complaint.

My issue and MY ONLY ISSUE on Mikey being let go has been the way it was done, the timing, the group meeting and the contents of the letter.

Someone has sat down and thought, I'll get rid of a few of these lads early, i know they are due to finish in 2 weeks but i'll write a letter, make up some stuff in it and hand it out to them and then there gone, I would really question the mind and the motive behind the thoughts of that person, and is that the sort of person that you would want your kids spending time with?
This could be the same person who thought it was right to send out text messages to at least 2 other lads saying "were not playing you again this year were giving the younger ones a run out" thats how 2 lads found out they were no longer part of the set up!
Just take a minute or 2 to let that sink in and ask yourself "why would someone do that"?

I was at Preston & Burnley when Mikey, my dad and myself were taken to one side and they explained why they were not going to keep him on, we drove home dissapointed but accepted thats how football is. After 3 games with Man Utd, Mikey and my Dad got the same conversation (i wasnt there) and again it was accepted. I know how tough it is to succeed in this game.
Did i go on internet forums and bleat about these 3 lost chances? No we just got on with it, no one on here would have heard a peep out of me on the 22nd when his time at the performance centre ended.
The ONLY reason i've kicked off is because the way it was done and the drug allegations, you can believe that or not I dont care, but if the tweets from Steve Shaw are correct then this post (plus letters, email's and phone calls from other parents) have lead to an investigation that has shown that something very wrong has been going on at the performance centre.

All i wanted to achieve was to clear my sons name and that of his friends/team mates from the allegations of drug taking which could effect their future careers, i would like to thank Barrow AFC for the speedy action they have taken in this matter and i await the full outcome and my son and his friends being cleared of the allegations.

So a letter generalising a host of reasons was sent out, probably naive of them to send it and word it so badly but the parents of the innocent little angels started a campaign baying for blood and got it. Well done all, someone at the club (who was highly thought of) has now lost his job because he made an error or judgement and the angry parents wouldn't rest until he was gone.
Steve Herbert supports the nob theory - Saturday 4th February 2012.

If this bus crashed and everybody on it died, Barrow football would end - Daz Boyle, Boston away, August 9th 2014.

As Dino says

Anyone with a modicum of sense would either have waited until after the last game and say sorry lads thats it. Thanks for all your efforts, or

Worded a letter "slightly better" and had it to proof read before sending it out.

If they are not intelligent enough to have done that, then maybe they should not have been in a position of power in the first place. Perhaps with the extra time they now have on their hand they might think about enrolling in a people skills / man management course.

Most people today think it will be #edited

Well done by the all the angry parents on their witch hunt though, supporting their not good enough kids
Won't win anything with kids. As someone once said.
