Lucky? Lucky????? Give over, the table doesn't lie! We won it fair and square, not many teams get out of that league playing with flair and creativity. You mention fyldes football - where are they now? Many football league teams come into the conference with the same attitude, how many go straight back up?
All well and good playing nice football, but pointless if it gets you nowhere. Stoke are a good example of a team criticised for it for years, but they've stood the test of time in the premier league while others came up, played football and went down. Sam allardyces teams were another example of it, criticised by many but how many times has he been relegated? He knows what he wants, just like edmo does.
Then again what does edmo know compared to azzas vast experience as a footballer and manager?

If Edmo is going to stick with the same tactics that got us promoted, why the hell have we spent all that money on a superb playing surface? The majority of sides in this league will love playing on that. Lucky so far we've played 2 of the lesser lights but any decent side will pass us to death

Has Edmo ever finished top goalscorer in the Furness Premier League Division One? I'd like to see his Ulverston Hospital Cup runners up medal from 2003/04. Probably doesn't even know where Tummerhill is.bluebird90 wrote:Lucky? Lucky????? Give over, the table doesn't lie! Fylde crumbled under a certain spell towards the end , they could have had it wrapped up by Christmas. They were 5 points clear at one point, we were literally an Andy Howarth goal away from losing the league. Had the keeper got to that beautiful effort of his we would have dropped 2 points and goal difference would have handed the league to Fylde. It was hardly a comfortable ride on the last day of the season. We could have easily drawn on the last day aswell. A lot fo things had to click into place for us to win the league. We hardly [SwearFilter] it.
Last time I checked Stoke wern't in the Conference National like . I hope you manage to wipe all that cloud juice off your face in time for the game tomorrow. If your heads still that far up you might see one of Grandys long balls up there!

Oops yeah I meant crap sides. The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:We were playing crap teams I assume you mean? Its true. We were very lucky to win the league last year. There wasn't many games where we completely destroyed teams with passing and game away from the game where we wowed the fans.KHayman wrote:We played long ball crap pretty much all of last season with McMillan, Taylor and Grand being the main culprits- difference was were playing crap and this year we are not.
Fylde were a very decent football side last year. We tried long balls against them on both meetings last year and lost both games. The home game was quite funny. We tried long balls with the wind in the first half and they got swatted back, then in the second half we did it again against the wind! Thats no way to learn that!
We can't be playing that sort of football against sides like Grimsby, FGR , Cheltenham, or Tranmere or theres going to be a few more 4-0's , 4-1's etc.
We need some flair and pace out wide and some creativity in the centre of the park. Weve got players who can play good football on the deck but our style of play is literally going over their head.

Re: Barrow v Guiseley - Match Thread
Barrow won the conference north on merit - not easy and not by miles , but the title was won by Barrow thankfully ! Skill, about 6 overall - but grit and effort from the likes of Livesey , Grand Cook, Jase , Lacey, 9! That's how you get out of that division ! I met the Fylde groundsman and said that Fylde played some nice football especially over Xmas when u did the double over us! And they were unlucky you could say , but they eventually crumbled in the playoffs- The Fylde fan/ groundsman , said its going too be tough for Fylde this season ! So got too give Edmo a chance in this division , he deserves that at least!
