Re: Hello Barrow Fans
Just seemed like a cheerful friendly message to me hope he has a cracking time in good old Barrow - less the three points of course!

But it's impossible to look on their forum and copy a username?barrow-mike wrote:No windup he posts regular on eastleigh forum and a member for over two yearsBingo wrote:Might be wrong but reading it sounds like someone taking [SwearFilter]
Might be wrong mind and if so have a safe journey and enjoy your weekend
It doesn't matter if it's genuine or not, or whether they're all disenfranchised Southampton/Pompey fans, so not really sure what element of it would be a wind-up.
Though a lot of people are weird and have too much time on their hands.

Re: Hello Barrow Fans
Will they be allowed in the xbar now some random away bar has been introduced?
They were a good bunch last time coming in fancy dress. spitfire pilots and a Native American Indian chief etc and singing to entertain us in the xbar before the game. The lovely Rita in her red bra under the over flowing broken guttering getting drenched.
Given a standing ovation when leaving the xbar after the game and they produced a limited edition badge to commemorate the occasion.
Hopefully you will be welcome in the Crossbar.

Re: Hello Barrow Fans
Remember the travelling supporters last time stood at the xbar end, dancing in the rain with shirts off and singing "were only here for the weather" "here for the weather" brilliant lot and welcome back

Re: Hello Barrow Fans
Hi Barrow Fans, I assure you I am very genuine, born in Eastleigh, live in Eastleigh, best place in the world. There's no gimmick here, we're a good friendly bunch. At the last check I think about 25 of us will be travelling, not many as usual, but our fixture list was not good, we had an away game last Saturday, our local derby at Aldershot, we've Barrow this weekend, then the last two weekends of this month, we're at Chester and Wrexham, so with finances being what they are in this period, we're short on support at Barrow sadly as people elect to go to Chester or Wrexham games. Our Chairman will be on the terraces with us, he is a genuine football guy with a real passion for the club and the fans, basically he's one of us on match days. I've been a member on our forum for six years but we changed provider a couple of years back, which is why it shows only two years. We won't be in fancy dress, last time was a special for reaching the first round of the cup first time in our history, last season was the first time we made the second round. We fancy dress in the last away match of the season, so Woking has that honour this season...and its a 5-15pm kick-off (All last games in the National League kick off at 5-15pm that day).

Re: Hello Barrow Fans
Yes, they were easily the most colourful and memorable away fans in recent memory. The robustly-built lady in the red bra especially. If my memory serves, their team on that day were pretty useful too. They battered us for 90 minutes and yet somehow we managed to sneak a win. Cooky's goal that day was a screamer - not sure if it might have been his first goal for us. Their fans took what must have been a desperately disappointing defeat in great spirit. It's not often I walk out after the final whistle saying "how the hell did we manage to win that?" but I did that day.Holkerbird wrote:Will they be allowed in the xbar now some random away bar has been introduced?

Got to agree, they were a good bunch. I remember them singing "If it wasn't for the spitfire you'd be Krauts " I had to respond to that with.
" If it wasn't for the Trident you'd be dead " I think I won that one. One of their fans actually said......... What's Trident ............ My mind was fair boggled..

Re: Hello Barrow Fans
Please enlighten us, what is their connection with the Spitfire then please?
Also, strictly speaking Trident is an American missile system, we have the system installed on our Vanguard Class submarines.

Re: Hello Barrow Fans
I recall a young 14 yr old lad posting on their forum at the time that he had never been as proud to be an Eastleigh fan as when they were applauded leaving the crossbar. A football memory a young lad will carry with him all his life.
Thank goodness segregation wasn't in operation that day. We were glad of the money they passed over the bar.
