That was a cracking performance, I thought all played well but Yates and Harrison were fabulous and Diarra had his best game as Ste mentioned.

Free food, free flowing football and a free reign from Southport it must be said.

Most of us were just praying we'd scrape a win last night, in advance of a bit of chasing on Saturday but you never know. Massively regretting not being able to go to Lincoln now to see if we can consolidate the resolute nature of the performance, even if we were to lose.

Even breaking down in the Windermere wilderness and abandoning the car at Newby Bridge to get a very late X6 only enhanced the adventure. :D

Read the comments on the Southport Forum. They seemed impressed with the Barrow side and the way we played. One quote "A word on Diarra, Barrow's centre back. He was absolutely unbelievable. Wow." "Barrow's 4th goal was goal of the season." Time to get behind the lads at home with a decent crowd and another performance like last night's!!

We played really well last night but Southport were truly awful.

Harrison played really well and the 4th goal was cracking.

Thanks to Jamie Reid for providing food for us and a place to sup some refreshments before the game in Peaky blinders.

Lincoln will be different and a point would be cracking there but hopefully we can get all 3 three.

Not even a breakdown in Windermere spoilt the day.

Firstly just repeating the thanks to JR for putting the refreshments on in a very decent watering hole.
Southport are the worst team I have seen this year and are going to find life difficult in this league. However, that doesn't take away the performance of Barrow AFC who from the KO completely outplayed their opponents. We actually played football on the ground for the majority of the game and it was good to see.At 0-4 we just took our foot off the pedal for the last ten minutes and a southport player found himself in acres of space to reduce the deficit.
It would have been nice to keep a clean sheet but we can't complain too much.Had to chuckle when supersub Grimes came on..................and then was taken off.I still can't see what he brings to the table and maybe a new career choice needs to be taken.
Great following from Barrow in a crowd which looked smaller than the official figure.Off we go to Lincoln confidence at a high, but they will be a different kettle of fish altogether. Here's hoping.

Sorry to hear the bus broke down, but I had already alighted and was probably in bed. ;) :scarf:

Just waiting for someone to come on here and say "Barrow supporters don't like him because he doesn't run around like a headless chicken"

Perhaps it's not that after all and the reason he's gone from league football to Barrow to being a sub at a struggling Southport....who gets subbed is because he's just shit and never looked like he was interested.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

:D He showed quite a lot of interest and aggression in a water bottle when he was replaced! Image Shame he didn't look to have the same interest and aggression during his cameo appearance on the pitch!

Nah, he's a Ferrari on a go-kart track, who can see things seconds before they happen...

Southport fan here. Just a couple of points I'd like to make.

Firstly, Diarra, your centre back put in the best performance from a defender I've ever seen. Won every header, every interception, blocked so many shots and made two or three outstanding last ditch tackles.

Secondly, what I admired most about your performance was the composure you showed when getting into our 18 yard box. There was no panicking, just incise crisp passing that cut us open so easily. The fourth goal was unbelievable.

Williams I thought was quite quiet but Harrison was very good. On that display, I'd have you guys to make top 5.

Listening to Radio Carlisle last night seems Paul Cox is getting the defenders to pass the ball back to Dixon in the fullback position so he has been told he has to come out. and kick it to stop dragging defenders out from the central position like on Saturday which lead to the goal.
Hopefully we can get a draw on Saturday at Lincoln.
Thought Almond would have caused us some grief as in the past, hopefully Southport can stay up.

Always good to hear the positives from a supporter, but when it comes from an opposing supporter it makes it all the better. Long way to go with many twists and turns yet but things are looking promising. :) :scarf:
