Catering
There was a second catering outlet at the back of the Wilkie stand on Saturday. I finally got a pie at Holker street!!! It was £2 so a reasonable price and I must say of good quality too. I wonder if this was a one off due to there being some many in attendance? Maybe casson is considering changing the catering team.

Re: Catering
It would be fantastic if this was the case. Really good news. I only wish I had known at the match as I would have been a customer. I always give the wagon a miss these days as it has been so bad. Fingers crossed it isn't a one-off

Re: Catering
After a long journey from London Euston to get to the match, the meat & potota pie and chips st Holker Street went down a treat.
I was almost tempted to buy one for the journey home as well.

Re: Catering
Do they actually put a tender out for the catering every season or do the current company just automatically get first refusal?

In an ideal world the club would do its own catering. Then theyve got the pitch money and the money from the sales of food and drink.
Barrow afc napkins and cups. Just like Fylde do, must be a good income stream for them

Re: Catering
Unless you had other regular functions/events on then I'm not sure doing our own catering is feasible. The initial overheads would be high and having another member of staff on the books would be high risk. That said with a stadium development and subsequent business opportunities I imagine having our own catering business would make sense. Especially if we have a cafe or restaurant on site.

Re: Catering
If it was done in-house it may only be viable on a volunteer basis; the costs of employing someone for a couple of hours or so on a match day could either result in the catering outlets running at a loss, or force the price of food & drinks up.
In-house catering tends to be more popular at smaller clubs with just one outlet staffed on a "wife of the chairman" basis.
Having said that, many moons ago director Geoff Hargreaves used to run the snack bar in the Holker End / Popular Side corner.
