Re: Tranmere v Barrow match thread
At half time we were in with a shout, but after the interval? We may as well have stayed inside the dressing room - indeed, we would have been better off doing so.
The game was marred by a bad injury - broken leg? - to one of their players, Jake Kirby. Hope it turns out to be not as serious as it sounded.

Heavy defeat yes, disappointing second half performance yes, but let's put some perspective on thing. If we fall short then it's because these players aren't quite good enough and we strengthen to go one better next season. Whatever happens from here on in it's been a good season with some great results to look back on. We are on a massive learning curve and this isn't going to be overnight success. So many things need to happen on and off the pitch for this club to be a sustained progressive club.

I love the tweet - I m going to talk to the chairman with the gloves off - I suspect the chairman will have a few words for him!!
When we were on the unbeaten run there was not a mention of Paul Casson - now we are struggling its all Paul Casson's fault - you're having a laugh..

We were the better team for an hour, but fell apart after their second goal. It was reminiscent of the Halifax game at the start of last season.
Don't know why their fans were giving Anderton so much grief after their player was stretchered off. It was just an accident - in fact the ref gave us the free kick, so he obviously didn't blame Anderton.
Their first goal was from a needless corner, from which no-one reacted when the ball ran loose. Bit of suspicion on Flatt for a couple of the goals - the free-kick was unexceptional, and he spilled the ball for another of the goals. The penalty decision was a joke, but it had gone by then.

Laugh all you want. I'd much rather have a shot at the football league over the Trophy. The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:John_Bucks wrote:Play offs > Trophy Final

I think Paul Cox has done well and I am sorry to mention money but I think it's a lack of it, that why we have had to sign so many loan playersBruce wrote:I love the tweet - I m going to talk to the chairman with the gloves off - I suspect the chairman will have a few words for him!!

The ones we have seen making the grade have moved on ,Yates being a pretty example.
Maybe we had to spend money to get rid of some of the donkeys Edmo signed.
It's obvious we have been short of a decent central defender to play alongside Danny Livsey
Look at the rough diamonds Paul Cox has polished Bennet,Williams and the goal scoring Harrison.
I think he will be asking Paul Casson can he actually bring in a couple of experienced players which will mean a outlay in money.
I think Paul Casson bought the club without checking the true state of the structure of the ground etc.
I think we will find that we will not push for promotion as success will mean more capital investment earlier than anticipated.
Re: Tranmere v Barrow match thread
Can't disagree there. I am told that when the owner was told about the floodlights he went white - no joke. Add to that everything else that needs doing, and now he's got Cox wanting him to spend more money by the sounds of it.Pedro wrote: I think we will find that we will not push for promotion as success will mean more capital investment earlier than anticipated.
Yes we have done well, probably too soon, and we should rejoice in that.
I just hope the dream is not becoming a nightmare for Mr. Casson.

Think a former member of this forum doesn't see us making the playoffs. Hence the laughter. Agree we've got too many loan players coming and going. Not a settled team in my opinion.John_Bucks wrote:Laugh all you want. I'd much rather have a shot at the football league over the Trophy. The Real Slim a former member of this forum wrote:

...........Its Saturday so don't stop the habit of a lifetime Pedro, money & Saturdays go hand in hand with you bud.Pedro wrote:I think Paul Cox has done well and I am sorry to mention money but
I can assure you that is ABSOLUTELY incorrect. Around about the time of the takeover PC had a structural survey done (which as part of the GMV he shared with me) it basically listed everything from floodlights to the main stand, to cracks in walls to broken windows. So, wrong again.Pedro wrote:I think Paul Casson bought the club without checking the true state of the structure of the ground etc.
See you next Saturday
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Pedro the only "donkeys "that edmo signed left are
Danny livesey, Harvey and Anderton on loan, if you actually followed Barrow you would know this!

Re: Tranmere v Barrow match thread
So as a expert you agree Edmonson signed a team of Donkeys and we may have had to pay out money to likes of Mellor who he gave a 2 yr contract and Grimes.blue nige wrote:Pedro the only "donkeys "that edmo signed left are

Not sure I agree with you calling Livery a donkey but you are entitled to your opinion as wrong as it might be

One year into the project.... punched above our weight this year, since Xmas has showed this.
If we finish top ten it'll have been a steady season. The unbeaten run has papered over the cracks

What are you drinking Jonty because I need some of it .....Jonty wrote:Heavy defeat yes, disappointing second half performance yes, but let's put some perspective on thing. The flip side of this is we have been garbage since mid December, two recent gutsy (and lucky) results have put a rosy tint on things and we are sliding away from the play-offs as others gain momentum.
We had a chance to have a good crack at play-offs by strengthening in January with 2 or 3 reasonable signings. Instead we have lost our best player (Yates), lost our second best to injury (Harrison) and brought in so many loanees that at times we may struggle to field a full squad due to restrictions on number of loanees in a match-day squad. It must be like a speed dating session at times in our dressing room at 2pm as everyone meets each other.
We are light years away from having the infrastructure to be a football league club. As for "sustainable progressive club" - having 8 loanees, taking so long to resolve the floodlight issue, a club shop that is past being a joke and lots of broken promises on ground investment would suggest otherwise.
There are a few good people at the club trying very hard to steer the ship in the right direction but we seem to lack any sort of clear map of where we are heading and almost appear to be anchored to the shore by our recent history.
It is probably going to be our best season in terms of pure league performance in our non-league days but it doesn't feel like it.

It's been a good season so far - i still think we can make the play offs and Id like to see a plan of action for the future but as long as Barrow continues that's the main thing
