Re: Stewards and police
After reading eye witness accounts over the last few seasons & chatting to several of our fans when I was over there is definitely a different approach taken by the Barrow based Police towards BAFC supporters compared to other clubs fans, This biased approach is wrong & shows lack of Professionalism by the Police & IMHO the Club should take issue with this 7 ask for a fair, balanced & even handed approach to Policing at Holker St.

Re: Stewards and police
Really not difficult just apply equal standards to both sets of fans. They (police / stewards) seem to paint themselves into a corner by highlighting and reacting to a lot of harmless fun and banter from home fans (yes I'm sure some of it may be more serious) whilst allowing or turning a blind eye to all manner of antics from visiting fans. A sure fire way to lose all credibility.

Re: Stewards and police
Find it funny how most the people on here are quick to blame the stewards who to me look very very short on numbers week in week out. Would any of you have the guts to take the crap they do week in week out. I did a number of years as one and wouldn't ever go back. A lot doesn't help when the club pay them a joke wage of 12.50 to be there for 5 hours.

Re: Stewards and police
There seems to be a really bizarre longstanding mentality whereby police/north west evening mail/sometimes stewards seem to construct a narrative which instantly assigns the blame to home supporters when it is often away supporters in the wrong, surely it would be more fair to approach any incidents with an open mind and like many have said on here to treat home supporters and away supporters in exactly the same way as one another.

£12.50 for 5hrs surely that ain't right or legal? It begs the question why people bother at all? Surely it's not the free entry!?BAFCFOREVER1984 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2017 8:49 pm Find it funny how most the people on here are quick to blame the stewards who to me look very very short on numbers week in week out. Re: Stewards and police
It's £12.50 a game as I know people who work there. Even the turnstile staff get payed more. It's a absolute joke. When i worked there I was led to believe that it was barrow fans causing a lot of the grief. What i seen yesterday was a joke. If any of the things that happened yesterday where to of been barrow fans they would have been kicked out and banned.

Re: Stewards and police
Yes; and for too long.
Instead of everybody coming on here and griping about the ineptitude of the police why don't WE ALL do something about it? Go down the right channels. Find out the names of the police (did anyone take a note of their numbers?) who were in attendance. Make a complaint. And follow it up!
Who pays the police? Barrow AFC?
Or does it come out of the council taxes both you and I and the general public pay? If it's the latter, surely the public of Barrow should be informed? They would be incensed by their attitude and ineffectiveness!
I was in the Soccer Bar at half time - there were about six Macc lads in there. They (and the rest who'd remained in the ground) wouldn't have frightened your Granny. But that's not the point.
1)How did they get manage to get in the Soccer Bar?
2)How did they get through the segregated area?
3)What did the police do to stop them?
No point blaming the stewards - from what I've seen of them, they probably feel intimidated when a large contingent of away fans visit.
I, and others, have said for far too long that the Segregated Fencing doesn't work.
What will it take for the club to realise this? Somebody being badly hurt or maimed?
Flares were set off (it's illegal, by the way and for good reason).1600 people were witness to it - including children. Yet nobody was arrested. That's negligence of the highest order!
I'm sick of hearing about Barrow AFC being a 'Family Club' and how they're trying to integrate the club with the local community. What kind of family orientated club allows the police to stand there watching whilst flares are being set off and missiles are being thrown at innocent by-standers?!!!
There must be somebody on here who knows the correct channels to go down? To report the police. Lets do it!
The club are obviously wary of doing so...
If any official of Barrow AFC is reading this; I'd be alarmed!
The type of behaviour that was witnessed and NOT dealt with last Saturday will have an adverse effect on all future fixtures.
Over a hundred free tickets had been given to children to attend the game - many of whom attended with parents. Those kids are THE FUTURE of the club.
What parent would allow their child to attend another game - unaccompanied - after witnessing the events that occured last Saturday? And what must the parents of those children have been thinking as they observed the police's reluctance to intervene?
Wake up Barrow AFC!

Re: Stewards and police
On evidence of what happened Saturday ie the abuse of the stewards, the obscenities shouted at yussef after he missed a good chance the smoke bomb and other misdemeanours I think we should ban Macclesfield next season. This will send a message out that this sort of behaviour is unacceptable especially when young kids were about.
And to think on remembrance day we celebrated people putting their lives on the line so scum like them could be free to live in a decent world
