Back to part time may not be such a bad thing
It looks like we'll be going back to being a part time club is it such a bad thing especially after last season.
Players who wear the shirt for pride & play for a winning bonus.
As a part time club we had two Wembley wins to great FA Cup runs, won the play offs in 2008.
Really things aren't all that bad let's regrouop and stop being so down.

Stu’s pretty good with his info....so I’ll be pretty disappointed if he’s got it right this time as well. I can only see a season of struggle with a team of full timers on a massively reduced budget.
Whoever the manager is he’s going to have to produce miracles to keep us up.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Cannot see how part time fits in with the direction Casson wants to take in developing the club. Talk of an Academy is the best news out of the "statement" and in future a balance of youth and seasoned journeymen will work within a controlled budget, but only competing as a full time unit. Part time in this professional league as it is now- who has made it work beyond 2-3 seasons? Before either dropping out or turning full time. It is effectively operating as an extension to league 2.

Let's hope the owners are around to oversea an academy because it takes years to develop kids and that's without larger club's cherry picking the best players.Jonty wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 5:08 pm Cannot see how part time fits in with the direction Casson wants to take in developing the club. They will need a full size artificial pitch to do anything at all as an 'Academy'- I assume there is some college/academy/council Furness Rovers pitch thing in the wind, No information though. Hope so.

Why don't we just keep slagging off PC as much as we can and that will [SwearFilter] him off that much that he puts the club up for sale and then a lot of Juveniles on here will say I told you so.
We're all supporters on here. Let's leave the negative comments to the away fans
Re: Back to part time may not be such a bad thing
You still pondering over the Club statement?, go back and revisit it and rather than previous grand promises we now have something that actually reads like a sensible and workable business strategy. The important message in there is recognition that throwing money at the team approach had to stop. Yes, we want us to be competitive but it is absolutely right to recognise (reading between the lines) it hasn’t worked and there is absolutely no structure in place to build the club up on and off the pitch. I think this move will prevent us from being on the “next”list and actually gives us something to work against.walney rock wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 8:11 pmThere is only One direction the Casson's want us to go & that's DownJonty wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 5:08 pm Cannot see how part time fits in with the direction Casson wants to take in developing the club. Re: Back to part time may not be such a bad thing
Chaps, not sure how this Academy will look.
Tranmere have just shut theirs down as it was costing £200,000 to run and they couldn't afford it.
That's a team that has just been promoted and pulling in gates of over 5000 for home games.
When you run an academy players are signed properly and can't play club football. Not sure how that will work in this town as clubs are already struggling for players.
Anyway, Hope it works out. Definitely the way forward if you want more locals in the squad.

well I don’t know about the Tranmere set up and those figures, but SCL have teamed up with with many non league clubs to set up Acadamies that provide a two year full time education and football development programme.

One endorsement-
“The philosophy of the club is to look at our own academy players first and then to supplement the squad with the most talented young players who have been released from local Premier, Championship and League clubs”.

The reasons for Tranmere calling it a day;

We won't know how it will work or even how long it will be before the wheels are in motion. All I know is If they get it right then a few years down the line that could be one lasting legacy. Looking forward to hearing what plans are there regarding to infrastructure and funding.
