Nearly 1400 home fans. Hopefully a few floaters will be back for the next one....they must of enjoyed that game..
Well done everyone once again....
Unfortunately the next home game is on a Tues night against BW who won't bring anybody. If we can get anywhere near 1400 that would be an achievement with the Barrow public starting to believe.

I brought two lads and that was there first game at HS since last season, they were very impressed and will be back for the Tuesday night game. Just got to hope we grab the attention of a few others now.
A steady increase in numbers must be a welcome sight for the owners, trouble is we all know what one or two losses will do to the next gate.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

It’s the first time since January 2014
Under Edmo we beat:
Workington 2-0
Stalybridge 3-1
Brackley 2-1
Telford 1-0
Guiseley 1-0
Before a 0-0 draw with Leamington ended the run
Didn't we once achieve that under Ray Wilkie ?
A few weeks after we played Bolton in the FA cup

Edit : might have been four league games and a cup game

Needs rewording: "At this level or higher". We've done it several times in the league below where we are now.

Great game yesterday.. myself and a few others dusted off the vocal cords and got a few going to match the pop side massive. The general buzz is getting better week on week.
Even the tots joined in with the singing..

Holker street will hopefully keep swelling week on week and the noise levels will increase to match the efforts from the lads on the pitch!
Don't want the bubble to burst and really hope the team and club continue on this amazing journey..

As Dave says above, "this league or higher" are the key words. If you open the debate out to all our First Team history then there are better runs than five on the spin. For example, in the Halom NPL season of 1983/84 we managed a run of 6 consecutive wins (and all of them in the League, no cups).

I stand to be corrected on this one but I reckon the best run of consecutive wins we have ever put together as a Barrow first team, irrespective of which league, came back in 1904-05 when we strung together EIGHT wins on the bounce. All eight were League wins (no cups). In those days we featured in Lancashire Combination Division Two. The first was a 3-1 home win against Skelmersdale and the eighth was a 1-0 away win at Chorley. The run came to an end with a 0-0 draw but then we resumed winning ways with another 6 on the bounce . . . . . a staggering 14 League wins in 15 games! And we only ended up 2nd in the final league table! Mind you, those amongst you with long memories would not be surprised by such a streak when recalling that we had the likes of Eccleston, White, Lucas and Ramsey playing for us.

So the message to Evatt and the boys is keep the good form going, you've a long way to go if you want to enter the Holker Street record books. (Editorial correction; that last bit's not quite true as I guess back in 1904-05 we were playing either at Little Park, over Roose way, or Ainslie Street??? Back in 1904-05 Holker Street was just a distant dream and I think it was a tip for the first 9 or 10 years of our history).

What was it like being a child on the terraces in 1904-05 PJ?

On BT Sports they referred to the last time Barrow won five consecutive league games (at NL level or higher) as being 1968. After a little bit of research I think they are correct and that the 5 wins were recorded in our first season in Division 3 as follows:

Feb 10th 1968 Southport (H) Won 3-1 Att. 5703
Feb 17th 1968 Scu**horpe (A) Won 4-2
Feb 24th 1968 Torquay (A) Won 2-0
Mar 02nd 1968 Grimsby (H) Won 2-0 Att. 6009
Mar 09th 1968 Oxford U (H) Won 3-0 Att. 6276

The run was ended at Gillingham on March 16th when we lost 3-0. For those that still can remember this run followed the famous FA cup defeat at Holker street by Leicester City (Att 16650) on Jan 27th 1968 and this was followed by a 3-2 defeat away at Watford. These were heady days as on March 25th 1968 two days after a 1-1 home draw with Walsall we beat Manchester United 3-1 in the Lancashire Senior Cup in front of 7223 spectators.
The 5 wins took us from 10th to 4th in the third tier of English football and therefore probably represents the pinnacle of what our club has ever achieved in the EFL system.

Some might also remember a similar run at the beginning of that season which began on September 13th 1967 with the defeat of Crystal Palace 1-0 in the League Cup. They were then in Division 2 (Championship) and the result I believe is still our best against higher league opposition. In our following 7 League games we won 5 (not consecutive) drew 1 and lost 1 and in the midst of it played Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup losing 3-1 in front of 21829.

The sun had never shone so brightly on our little club and this unfortunately was the precursor to decades of trouble and strife. It's also a sad reflection on more recent football history as I think apart from Scu**horpe (now at the bottom of League 2) every one of the teams in that 5 game run have featured in the Conference (both Southport and Torquay fell even further as did we) within the last 10 years.

Oh for even half those gates now.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.
