So its taken 6 weeks of lockdown maybe to get back to the place where they were before. Being faced with a decision to call or void. They'll want to void of course even more so now unless given warnings of severe EFL displeasure. I doubt the clubs will care that much.

But if the EFL does finish with promotion and/or relegation and the NL either misses out on promotion or has a club plucked out of the NL by invitation, I think that the NL as a representative body will be finished reputationally.

Interesting quote this. Would that the NL be so supportive of the idea of promotion.

There is no similar agreement between the EFL and NL. The 'tripartite agreement' dates back to 1991 between the FA EFL and Prem.

Use the limited time of the 2020-21 season to conclude this season. Players start training again in January, play a few friendlies and then start from where we left off.

Losing, in effect, a full season's worth of income is hardly going to appeal to clubs already struggling to survive and different squads completing a competition to those that started it would be unusual.

and finishing this season has already been ruled out (at this level) so it seams totally pointless

Its actually probably not a bad non-decision though it is utterly, utterly, utterly, pathetic that we have taken this long to get to this point.

If Ian Dennis is correct, essentially they are saying that our destiny is now in the hands of the EFL and not the NL. This is probably where it has always been but at last the NL has finally accepted that the decision is probably not theirs to make. I for one am glad about that.

The void option must have been very tempting but a combination of clubs who still feel that there might be more mileage in holding out together with the words of Rick Parry determined to finish with promotion/relegation still on the EFL table will have forced the NL into a further "circling" phase. On balance that is probably good for us. The chances of the EFL needing at least one additional team whenever next season is remain pretty strong. We are still in the game and our position has not been eroded.

We need to play out the remaining fixtures when safe to do so with the league clubs still in existence at that time. If they null and void it, there is no precedent set to stop the same shit-shower if another pandemic breaks out in the seasons that follow. This Coronavirus pandemic has shown a few rougue nations what damage can be inflicted on others without the need for expensive nuclear weapons. A frightening thought but our new reality I’m sorry to say.

65 of the 68 clubs all expressed their views to the National League. The Board want to preserve the principle of 2 teams promoted into the Football League.

They want to wait on the EFL before deciding on the playoffs & season’s outcomes.
