It's a game of poker and Barrow hold the aces because we have a team for next season and Bolton don't therefore their need to move things on is greater than ours. Either they will have to pay or persuade Ian Evatt to break his contract and that will have to be done soon as they need to get players in pretty quickly. It's to the advantage of both clubs for this to be sorted but much more important for them than us.

I'm assuming that Evatt's vow of silence is as much to assist Bolton as it is to support BAFC. If he takes decisive action to assist a move this does not help Bolton. I'm sure that somewhere there is already a draft press release in which our soon to be erstwhile manager tells the world what a wonderful club we are but how he simply could not resist the temptation of the great Bolton Wanderers. But if he either declares his desire for this outcome too early or walks he becomes a contract breaker at worst a rather shallow, self-interested if talented bloke at best. Whether these things are true or not is not really relevant. But I get the impression that perception means a lot to him.

He might be able to see this iceberg approaching where he has to take a position. I think he might be a little naïve in the politics of all of this. I also think that he might be somewhat sensitive to criticism. Its almost impossible to go through your career without being thought of badly by someone for doing something. Perhaps he should give Neil Warnock a ring for some Career Advice.

Let's be honest it's all about what was best for him and his family quite rightly.

I think he is making a mistake but like a lot of people his words do not match his deeds,

I.E has been learning his trade on and off the field with Barrow ,the masque slipped when he attacked John Goodwin for comments he made about a game we had played
I do not know John but he seems to be a supporter .
Radio Cumbria quite rightly defended John,Evatts nativity shone through
On one occasion when things were not going well Adam who is not a provocative interviewer and IE was quite sharp asking if he thought he was not up to it.

Let's remember I.E stated what he was told by the Cassons were not as they said interms of money,going on to say how the new board have him more support and resources we could afford ,the sign he was getting ready to leave were his good words about the Cassons.

Managers are like the majority of politicians good on rhetoric and I am sure he picked a lot of that up from Ian Holloway.

I.E may feel he could fail here or Bolton but expect a bigger payout from Bolton.

Football has no loyalty ,I read about how Bill Shankly left Liverpool to early and they treat him quite badly in as much helping him cope with the void.

Evatt has admiration for Alex Ferguson a very successful Manager,who played the audience
I think Shankly was a better human being

Let's get this right integrity is in short supply but as Shyllock said we will have our pound of flesh,bad if it came to this as the Evatt brand will be tarnished so early on

Has evo even spoken to Bolton yet ? He might have a chat to see how it lies and then think this isn’t for us where does that leave us ?

Certainly not officially he hasn't

As the terms of the contract make it pretty clear he can't do that without his current employer's permission and it looks pretty sure that he won't get that permission until Bolton put the money into Barrows account.

And if he were found to have done so any court case would be a complete waste of time as the judge would just award Barrow the money before everyone had even got in and sat down.

The point raised earlier about paying him the FL rate is an interesting but flawed one as I would imagine the new rate would kick in from July 1st and therefore wouldn't be payable until August 31st [ and remember that the wages they will pay him next week will be for the month of May ] Its something that they could try but I would imagine unless they did the same with the rest of the staff and players it would be a plan deemed to failure.

The current situation that both Evatt and indeed Barrow find themselves in is one that neither of them could really have expected to find themselves in when it was put together in that when you bring it down to its basics it could never have been imagined that Evatt would be interested in moving to a club that wouldn't be capable of paying the release fee even if it is 250k without even thinking about it.

And that leads us to where I think we are in that Ian Evatt should really be asking himself two questions firstly would a club that clearly can't just afford to say he's the man we want, he.s going to cost us a quarter of a million, there's the cheque and who despite being severely limited in what they have been allowed to spend for the last 12 months and who know that they will be similarly constrained for the next 12 months yet cant get 250k together the sort of club he should be going to if he really does want to seriously progress his career and that's before you take into account the disdain and worse that would surely come their way from the FL who 12 months ago clearly bent over backwards to get them into the club by going along with the story that it was them or nobody in order to get other parties to write off monies owed in order to make it happen.

And secondly, he should consider if Barrow were to say We.ll rip up your contract and replace it with exactly the same one that Bolton are offering [ plus the handcuffs of course ] you would that influence your decision in whether to stay or not ?

My opinion is those of you wanting/expecting to hear from Ian Evatt are going to be very disappointed in that I don't think you'll hear a peep from him until its decided one way or the other which I think is the right way to go about things I just wish I had as much confidence that Bolton arent at this very moment planning some sort of stroke to get IE without even paying a penny.

Yes can see Bolton playing Ramsbottom in the next few years.
Hurts me as I used to attend Burden Park but unlike Barrow they are in decline not because of any secret vote but of years of incompetence.

Well for the umpteenth time if Mr Nick Pink Floyd Mason is so loaded then tell him to put his money where his gob is and simply write the bloody cheque and let's be done with it. But i.m pretty sure as you're going to find out it isn't quite that simple.

Clearly either he.s misplaced his chequebook while he.s been locked down or more likely as is coming to the fore someone else with a vested financial interest has told FV that if they write the 250k cheque to Barrow then they want the monies back that they wrote off last year to allow the deal to go thru paying back as less then a year ago and with a pandemic and financial catastrophe in the meantime FV were pleading poverty to get the deal over the line now it appears either one of FV or indeed the club itself is misleading the club's fans that its something they are capable of doing.

And that's before we take into account the views of the FL who could actually see the payment of such a cost be within their remit and point out to Bolton its one that they wouldn't be allowed to make which takes us back to the members of the FV consortium and whether one of them would be willing to do it on a private basis.
