Ridiculous overreaction. If it was happening this time last year people would have said good luck to him. It's only the fact that this is happening after he has brought us success that means people have to get all butthurt about it. I'm not saying loyalty doesn't count for anything but do people really expect managers to sacrifice opportunities to further their careers in order to keep fans happy. They are always going to put their careers first. All managers will.

That matches up with something that I .ve just been told

That the compensation package covers IE and 3 other people including Peter Atherton who has decided he doesn't fancy Horwich Wanderers so the dispute over the money is how much it is reduced by if it doesn't cover PA. Now whether he.s not interested in the Reebok [ or whatever they're calling it this week ] because of the situation there or because a certain newly promoted club have asked him if he'd be interested in the manager's job there if the current incumbent was to leave in the very near future.

Do you think going to a shambles of a club playing in the same league as Barrow is a good career move..

Some on here saying he's not spoken to Bolton i would say once compo is agreed, he will be Bolton manager a couple of hours later

Must admit I like IE and respect what he has done for the club but I feel let down that he is doing this again,
And after all his spiel about wanting to see how far we can go as a club and before we even start he has had is head turned, but I suppose it is only a job and he obviously thinks Bolton has more prospects for his future, the way they have been in recent years I am not sure he is making the right choice.

Ian Evatt goes on a smaller fee, minus Atherton (With a massive thanks from me for what he's done for our club), Atherton is made our manager = continuity, players know him etc and hopefully has the same eye for a player..... For me, I'd take that.

I'd settle for that too

If Evatt goes and Atherton moves to top spot.
Will we be playing the PA system!

Or do we have a manager whose agent wants him to go? ;)
How can anyone especially Ian Evett know whether he wants to be the next Bolton Manager until he speaks to them and finds out what they're offering and on this occasion what the constraints of the embargo and financial situation of not just the club but FV.s and indeed the individual directors etc will be right now.

It's all right his agent meeting them and ringing IE and saying it's a great opportunity Ian lets do it after all his motivation is purely one of cash but what's to say when IE looks at it and sees what the embargo will mean and asks about the black hole in the finances caused by the pandemic he won't just say [SwearFilter] that for a game of soldiers.

So I think some of you need to learn the difference between him wanting to speak to them and definitely wanting to take the job and that's before you throw into the mix any demands that he might have such as not being willing to work with a director of football or whatever title this Tobias Pheonix character has he could well make demands of them that they're not willing to concede on.
I think you'd have to be extremely naive to think that Evatt hasn't had some sort of communication with Bolton and know exactly what they're offering him before this whole saga became public.

And on and on . Good shout about Mr Atherton though continuity and all that. Thought the club might of said something by now although I respect the fact they are keeping cards tight to chest

I hope this is all sorted out tomorrow. It’s obvious Evatt wants to go. Just pay the money Bolton.

Atherton does have some good experience and arguably would be good for continuity, however the worry will be it could be Micky Moore pt.2

Could also be a Bob Paisley! Hasn't Mickey Moore been useless in previous managment roles also?
