Are you sure about that?

This Port Vale article suggests otherwise.

https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/f ... me-4960939

"Following Visser’s injury, Vale brought in former Manchester City academy keeper Tom Scott to cover for experienced keeper Scott Brown.

They also signed striker Will Swan and centre half Mustapha Olagunju, on loan from Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield Town respectively.

Because Scott, Swan and Olagunju are all under-22 they don’t count towards the squad limit."
It turns out the Port Vale article is correct. The EFL rule 43.9.2(b) states that the exemption of u21 loanees is only applicable to Championship clubs. The only U21 loanee we have is Bobby Thomas, which frees up one more place in the 22. So...there are three places between these lads:

Brown
Barry
Mike Jones
Hird
Jason Taylor
Wilson (has just turned 21, so may get into squad due to age?)
Ntlhe
Zouma
Gribbin
Penfold

43.9 Squad Lists
43.9.1  Clubs shall be permitted to name up to a maximum number of Players in their Squad
List based on the following provisions:
(a)  in respect of Championship Clubs, 25 Players of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player;
(b)  in respect of League One and Two Clubs:
(i) in Season 2020/21, 22 Players of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player; and
(ii) in Season 2021/22 and each subsequent Season, 20 Players of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player.
43.9.2  The following Players do not need to be included in the Squad List to be eligible to play in League Matches:
(a)  in respect of Championship Clubs, any Under 21 Player (save for any Under 21 Player who is registered with the Club on a Temporary Loan Transfer); and
(b)  in respect of League One Clubs and League Two Clubs, any Under 21 Players.

Agreed, particularly as in the 5 matches before the manager brought in 2 central defenders we had conceded just 2 goals in 5 matches with a back 3 of Hird, Platt and Brough playing in 4 of those and a back 4 with Jones and Platt as central defenders in the other one which would indicate there was absolutely no need to bring in any central defenders. While Jason Taylor may not start many games, he is still the only decent truly defensive midfielder we have and would be very handy coming on to protect a lead and Brad Barry is definitely one of our best players. Brown has also defended decently when he has played this season. Everything I've seen would also indicate that those 4 are all players who give 100% effort every time they play and that Hird and Jason Taylor, in particular, are good leaders which we seem to lack when they aren't playing.
Spot on. Let’s just hope some of these players have made it into the 22 🤞

Our live coverage includes the expert commentary of BBC Radio Cumbria duo Adam Johnson and John Goodridge, as well as action replays of all the key moments in the game.

I would have expected, also, that they would be available on the EFL website but they're not as far as I can see. All I can find is squad numbers for the start of 2020/21 season.

I don't think the game will go ahead-the ground is rock solid and there are parts of Holker Street that never see the sun.

Mace Goodridge also counts as U21

It is any player born after 1/1/99 that doesn’t need registering

Overall we have 31 players in our squad (not counting players who are out on loan)

5 of our players are classed as U21

That leaves 26 players over 21 of which 4 would be left out due to only being able to name 22

Carlisle now kicking off at 2.30 tomorrow to try and beat the weather, wonder if we’d consider the same,
Although they’re fixture pile up looks worse than ours

I`ll be surprised if it`s on , we will have to inspect the pitch early (to avoid exeter travelling )and i`m sure those covers only work to a certain temperature.

You never know, 30,000 quids-worth of covers might be doing their job. And so might the ground staff. No one would think to suggest otherwise, surely.
Oh, hang on, I see you've edited your post.... ;)
