Re: Remaining Games
Not sure what to expect from the Southend game except that it wont now be what we would've seen had we not completed the job at FGR.
Depends how much their team actually believes they still have a chance of overcoming an 8 goal difference with Scunny (or 12 goal with Colchester). I'm not sure that Brown's mix of humiliation and praise of his squad will now work. Simply knocking in a goal and clinging onto a lead probably wont cut it especially as they host Newport trying to complete a playoff finish next week. Unless of course Scunny lose by loads which they've been doing quite regularly recently. I'm sure they'll be getting updates regarding Scunny and Brown is the sort of manager who wont be reluctant to let his team know if he thinks it can spur them on.
For that reason the pattern of the game could be quite unusual and in parts could be quite open. Should be entertaining though.

Re: Remaining Games
Unless there is a financial difference for league position use as many players as possible to help determine the retained list
Just say no to VAR

Re: Remaining Games
It should be a decent game they need goals we can play with no pressure .. we will win this
Re: Remaining Games
If they win both games and Scunny lose both of theirs that's a four goal swing straight away, so they'd only need five more goals (because their goals for is lower) across the four games to make up the rest. Given Scunny's form on Tuesday, that's quite possible. Although since I've never really liked Southend and can't stand Phil Brown (plus he was rubbish as Swindon manager) I hope you do them over on Saturday.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 10:40 pm Not sure what to expect from the Southend game except that it wont now be what we would've seen had we not completed the job at FGR.

Re: Remaining Games
The thoughts of Phil Brown.

It is interesting that as each opportunity for Southend to avoid relegation has disappeared he has become more adamant that his team can stay up. As far as I can tell he's seen nearly as many of Barrow's games as he has Southend's in his latest spell in English football. This probably reflects his belief until last night that this was going to be a showdown between us rather than involving us. But each time he turns up we win so I'm not that fussed to be honest. He has had to change his story though. From being the vanquished we are now his enablers.
I do hope he irritates Rob Kelly and the squad as much as he irritates me.

Re: Remaining Games
So basically FGR allowed us to win on Tuesday? What a pillock, hope we send them down now
Re: Remaining Games
Agreed. This is fuel to the fire for Rob and the team.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 6:53 am So basically FGR allowed us to win on Tuesday? What a pillock, hope we send them down now
Re: Remaining Games
Yes read that on another site about FGR. It's an odd statement that can be open to interpretation. Think he chose his words carefully - I think!!!! However, from our point of view its an opportunity for some players to try and get a contract sorted out with us or be a showcase for another EFL club to pick them up this summer if we release them or their contract is not renewed. On thing for certain there is going to be a big market of surplus players this summer so we need to get the managerial side sorted asap then move from there. It's about us on Saturday not Brown's Southend.

Re: Remaining Games
He obviously hadn't been doing a lot of checking on Forest Green! Forest Green have been on a terrible run of form.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 6:53 am So basically FGR allowed us to win on Tuesday? What a pillock, hope we send them down now
Since they lost their top (and almost only!) goalscorer, Jamille Matt, in the first few minutes against against Bolton, they have played 8 matches (including the Bolton match) and in 7 of those matches they have scored 2 goals, including 0 goals in 6 of them!
The only game they managed goals was when scoring 3 against Sc*nthorpe.
Even before Matt was injured, they hadn't scored in the 3 previous games making their goal tally 2 from 10 of the last 11 games!
Re: Remaining Games
I think you're inferring too much from his comments. All he basically said was that FGR were bad, and I find that hard to disagree with. This doesn't detract from Barrow's excellent performance.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 6:53 am So basically FGR allowed us to win on Tuesday? What a pillock, hope we send them down now
