If you want to get them to change their mind PDQ get a crowd rounded up on here meet outside the ground and make it very clear that there's 500 of you who won't be paying to go in unless they open a cash gate and commit to keeping it open till the end of the season. And I think they.ll get a float together pretty quick

Or

Maybe someone could persuade them to speak to Andy Holt who was planning to do the very same thing at Accy and who was persuaded by their Trust why it was a very bad idea and a compromise was very quickly found. Not one that i agree with but its better than what was proposed to start with.

I.d be interested to know what would happen if [ at a none all ticket game ] a busload of away fans turned up expecting to pay cash to get in I would imagine even the [SwearFilter] at Cumbria Plod would very quickly be telling them to sort it or pay the bill to police 50 very [SwearFilter] up and [SwearFilter] off away fans as they took to a rampage around the local hostelries while the match was in progress.

It's pretty clear why the bank's organisation are over-egging the figures they want to close more branches the.ll not be satisfied till they.ve closed the last one. It's about time some MP put a bill up making the use of cash a right. I have a case full of cards but couldn't tell you the pin number of any of them and have never in my life made an offline payment using one and don't intend to start now.

Spot on.
'And', it tells you everything about the character of him that refers to some people as being dinosaurs.
Equally they could lose their wallet or purse containing all their cash.
Well not many people walk around with vast amounts of cash in their purse or wallet I should imagine and certainly not pensioners. The contactless limit is £45 but is steadily going up as it started off at £20.
Multiply that with a good few transactions and it will mount up quickly.

Good point. Seems bizarre how much time people are willing to post/complain on a forum, but at the QnA (where this subject was covered by two successful businessmen, PH and TS) the turn out, to air any grievances, was very poor.

If anyone is that bothered they could buy a load of tickets online, and sell em for cash outside the ground, with a big sandwich board strapped to them? Or would that be classed as touting?

Holkerbird wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 9:20 am Another point being elderly people might not like walking around with a debit card in case it is lost. Easily done. Someone lost a set of house keys on Sat so a card wouldn't be hard to lose and let's face it with this ridiculous contactless waving business a finder could have a good time until the card was cancelled.
You aren't liable for any criminal spending on a lost/stolen card, providing you report the loss immediately. The same cannot be said for cash!
I was told of someone who lost their card and transactions had been made on it. They enquired at the stores concerned who said they would turn their cctv over to the police to check. It was a narrow time frame as well. The police did nothing, wouldn't even look at the cctv. This was a pensioner too.
Don't the banks only reimburse money taken after the reported loss? You are responsible for any money taken before the reported loss.
Banks are tightening up on all these various types of fraud reimbursements.

The club has had to adapt to the EFL requirements for electronic gate keeping and stricter attendance management. That is done by scanning the tickets at the gate. There are very few professional clubs that now accept cash at the turnstiles. I’d be surprised if there was any at all in the EFL.

This means that tickets have to bought in advance either online or from any of the clubs tickets sales points.

The argument here is about being able to use cash to make that ticket purchase and to be able to still use cash in the ground at the shop and at the bars / food outlets.

I don't think BOD are going to change their decision based on the number of people who want to attend and are only willing to carry the exact change with them in cash.

Probably not but it doesn't mean they or it is right though.
It doesn't mean they are "only willing" to carry the exact change. They might not have any option on it.
Doesn't seem to be in your world but some people are actually poor and the luxury of a day at the football is the highlight of a struggle in life.
This football league lark seems to be.more angst than pleasure at the moment. 🙄

Not really, who’s to say the attendance wouldn’t have been 3000+ if a cash choice was available?
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Plus a good few of the local lads who play football on Sat afternoon and their mates show up for night games and those who work on Saturdays too.

A gent in his 60's asked me and my dad if the queue in the fanzone was for tickets. We said yeah but cash only. Bloke said he didnt have any but my dad offered his card if he gave him cash. Waited a couple of minutes and he said he'd had enough and walked out the ground. Not great and I think a cash option should be doable. People who dont use cards and live out of town wont be able to come in early to buy from club. You do wonder how many people have done that.

Hope something can get sorted soon as. A work in progress but not much of a compromise so far. A cash only turnstile where there is a trusted employee must be possible ?

Cash turnstiles is not a reality because all tickets are produced when bought in an electronic format from a computer and scanned to allow access to ground , (counted for ground capacity needs.). The club no longer produced all cragories of tickets in advance
Cash sale , as imposed to card sale at a ticket booth is however possible , it's down to the board to say yes. . As mentioned somewhere else there are only a very small number of full time employees at the club, , looking after all off field activities, everyone else that can be seen on a matchday are volunteers. Someone said yesterday that even those selling villa tickets didnt work for the club

Giving up on this thread. People not understanding that the issue here is about having a cash option to buy a ticket from a ticket outlet at the ground on matchday and using cash at food outlets. The rest is about individuals planning to get this ticket in advance around their matchday routine.

Yeah but you can't, and that information isn't a secret. So why turn up with cash expecting to get in?
