We were in for him in summer and he wasn’t interested with him living near Bradford. Unless we are paying mega bucks I can’t see it being him. Definitely welcome him back if it is though

Yes It would be good to have him but if he actually said a ‘big name signing’ rather than just a ‘big signing’ then I wouldn’t describe Cook as the former!

Bradford wouldn’t let Cook go (not convinced we ever were actually in for him in the summer either)
If we are applying the Barrow afc forum rules of just looking at ex players then Joel Dixon isn’t in the Bolton team anymore……

A Rooney return would be like the second coming of Grant Holt a few years back. Initial feel good factor, nothing to show for it.
Popular side since '03.

Rooney returning will be interesting, although I wouldn't say it's a "big one coming in". We're talking about a Non League player of 31 years of age being a big signing. He has 44 career appearances to date in the EFL (League 2) with 4 goals. This period was between 2008-2010. He's spent the majority of his career in NL since then.

Now don't get me wrong, a John Rooney in a Ian Evatt free flowing team with overlaps and third man runs for him to pick out passes (to unlock defences) or be the man to run beyond strikers and be found, is an attractive proposition...as we well know. But this team isn't that. We're so pedestrian in possession.

I'm happy if it's him BUT I'll not expect too much. I fear this second time around will be completely different.

All aboard

I would be very surprised if its Rooney given who is agent is and the problems he has caused the club in the past.

Wouldn’t say Rooney is a player that would shock people

I’ve followed Barrow for more than fifty-five years and I’m desperate for the them to retain their Football League status but the thought of Rooney returning to Barrow fills me with contempt for the player. What about all the claims he made about his mental health, taking his son to football on a Saturday morning, not wanting to travel etc etc. Have these issues now disappeared or is he just after another pay cheque. Things have moved, the chance of him reliving previous heights are almost impossible. Sitting on the bench for so many games means he won’t be match fit I’d let him rot on the bench at Stockport..

I hope it's just a rumour. I was mortified when Rooney left us, but subsequent details that came out made it clear he did not have the same desire for Barrow that Barrow had for him.
I don't see the point in bringing him back. It would be different if it was a player that had left for a higher placed team, but he left for money and a closer location.

Stockport signed Rooney on a 3 year deal, no chance of him returning especially after his list of reasons why he shouldn't be here. Wouldn't even class it as a rumour

Both Rooney and Quigleys time has come and gone now. Right system at the right time, a “perfect storm” as evatt kept mentioning.

Rooneys rotting away on the bench and Quigley is an absolute shadow of what he once was. The player he is now was the ones that fans mocked us for when we signed him, forget about them.

Would rather the money be spent on players that want to be at the club who can get us out of this mess we’re sleepwalking into.

Pretty much that. Unless he’s moved his family or Barrow has moved 100 miles closer to Liverpool without anybody noticing then the supposed reasons why he left in the first place still stand.

Of course, we all know he left for money but it would be nice if a scintilla of truth became a thing in the bullshit world of football.
