Backing them all the way but took the time out to write a shitty post the minute they got 2-1 down? Didn’t see your full backing at 1-0.Matty wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 5:02 pmGrow up.John_Bucks wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 4:55 pm
So many ‘fans’ on here that can’t wait for us to go down just so they can say I told you so and feel smug.
Get behind the team you’re supposed to support!
I was there today backing them all the way but I'm not deluded enough to realise we have nowhere near enough quality to get enough points, we are purely relying on other teams. The effort was there.

Effort was there but beaten by a better side who controlled the second half.

Re: Barrow v Portvale match thread
Yet the very same Zanzala could have a league 2 championship medal by the end of the season
Re: Barrow v Portvale match thread
Genuinely thought there were at least 4 clear offsides which weren’t given, mistakes cost us the fist goal, second goal, why handle the ball to give a free kick, when the ball is going out

Re: Barrow v Portvale match thread
No matter how hard we try both goals we're pi** poor ,we desperately need a right back ,all season we've conceded goals that have come from wide positions!, Holloway does ok but he's too far out to be dangerous he lays the ball off well but lacks pace to get into the penalty area!,I'm absolutely gutted!
Re: Barrow v Portvale match thread
That second half we were second best but we battled and competed which is what we want to see. We have to believe we can get something out of every game if we continue to battle.

Re: Barrow v Portvale match thread
Thought we played really well today.Just unfortunate we couldn't find that second goal.I also thought the referee let too many incidents of holding on by the Port Vale players go unpunished .The Bluebirds looked like a different side than when they were under Mark Cooper.
Re: Barrow v Portvale match thread
Seemed to run out of steam mid way through the second half. Worrall on their right was their out ball, he constantly had acres of space. Thought we were going to rumble them after a good first half and a cracking goal.
Re: Barrow v Portvale match thread
Hutton rather than leave it to go out handled the ball that after discussions with the liner the ref awarded a free kick. They scored more or less from there. What Romeo Romeo was trying to do is beyond me, these simple errors are costing us our league status!

Re: Barrow v Portvale match thread
Were as good as PV for an hour, but seemed to run out of steam towards the end. Very obvious change in tactics and attitude, for the better. Poor goals, first after a bad corner from Rooney and second after a needless handball by Hutton. Draw would have been fair. A loss isn't quite disastrous, but getting close because running out of time. More top sides to play before it's all over. At least we turned up against a side now in third place.
Re: Barrow v Portvale match thread
Better than performance than the Carlisle game but after a decent first half, we never came out in the second.
Scored a good breakaway goal through Kay after a great ball from Hutton and we had a couple of chances to add but didn't, needed more quality in the final third but overall looked good and stopped Vale playing.
Second half they stepped it up and we were never in it, too deep and the midfield again went AWOL. Apart from Beadling getting stuck in, Banks and Rooney were anonymous and we didn't win anything. The first goal came from a terrible Rooney corner cleared by their first man, Banks then missing a header and claiming a foul, Vale broke 4 on 2 and scored at the back post. Straight from the kick-off we could've been behind, a ball in behind Glennon and their striker dragged it wide. There were another 2-3 occasions when Glennon was missing again hopelessly out of position and we got away with it. Good save from Farman and a couple of good interceptions all day from Platt who I thought was back to his best. No surprise when Vale did win it at the end. A ridiculous cross field ball from Banks was going out anyway until Hutton inexplicably decided to handle it? Even the ref seemed surprised at what he'd seen. Then we couldn't clear the free kick, Gotts lost it, Banks put a half hearted tackle in and they crossed it back in and scored. Don't forget they hit the post early on at 0-0 too...
Positives: looked more up for it especially in the first half and looked more of a threat going forwards. Kay looked lively and took his goal well and was a bizarre decision to take him off as he didn't look to be too tired and was our only attacking threat. Effort was there again overall but the quality isn't.
Platt was excellent I thought my MOM, back to his old self.
Negatives: Glennon was/is awful, wasted numerous set plays and was caught out so many times before we finally changed it. Good to have Grayson back but Brough is a huge miss, hopefully he's back soon. Midfield apart from Beadling went missing again in that second half, didn't compete enough and Banks/Rooney could both have been hooked in that second half...bring back White next time? Some ridiculous decision making at times too with dangerous passes in our own half mostly from Banks and as for Hutton for the free kick? Never seen anything like that at this level, you'd see it on Cav Park maybe... Holloway won a few flick ons but needs to stay on his feet more, stop backing in and looking for the foul.
Port Vale are a good side can find their men well, good on the break and you can see why they're up there. In all honesty they could've won by 3 or 4 and the luck was with us for the large part. Got to be better defensively though the goals were criminal and we should in the end have seen that out for a point which would've been a good point...
Stevenage might be our saving grace, just got to get to the end pick up a few points here and there and then start again in the summer...

Re: Barrow v Portvale match thread
Effort was there for 60 minutes then ran out of steam, poor player recruitment. Our forwards are beyond awful and one of them has just had a new contract not so long ago. Trying to be positive but I think the only thing will save us is other results.
Re: Barrow v Portvale match thread
Battled hard the officials can all do one their 7 was offside countless times. what the referee was giving yellow cards to us for were ignored the other way. Should of been a free kick for their 19 Amoo playing the man not the ball in the lead up to their opener and it looked like the man at the far post was offside for the winner. Amadi - Holloway held the ball up well got no protection from the officials at all. Hard to take that second goal after doing many thing right today but a glaring miss by Gordon proved to be the turning point. Port Vale definitely one of the better sides in the league in my view. But lucky to be walking away winners. Great goal from Kay thought he did well.
