We huffed and puffed but once again but the keeper apart from our goal was never troubled. Brough was a massive miss and Glennon had a game he will want to forget. Banks missed a header in the run up to their opener and the winner was pathetic defending. The lads gave it a go but alas I fear we will be relegated.

Got to keep going. Another good first half, but football is 90 mins and we have to keep that standard for the full game. The better team won in the end but we live in hope.

A smash and grab by Port Vale at the end of a game which Barrow did not deserve to lose. The end-to-end action made for an exciting game watched by 3,215 including 575 visiting fans, We showed grit and determination throughout and had chances to win the game ourselves.

In the end it was galling to see Port Vale capitalise so easily on two occasions where we had the ball under no pressure but contrived to lose possession. Fast on the break, Vale’s first was scored after a Rooney corner and the second resulted from a free kick when Hutton handled on overkick from Banks which was going into touch, rather than letting it go for a throw-in. After Vale's first we rode our luck with their breaks down the right but then settled back into an end-to-end finale

Seven minutes in, Port Vale had the first chance when a Walker shot was cleared for a corner. Two minutes later at the other end, a Glennon free kick was cleared for a Rooney corner, Stone saving from a close-range Platt header.

In the 13th minute, Canavan was booked for a foul on Amoo, Worrall’s free kick being cleared. Two minutes latera cross by Worrall gave Wilson a shot from the right into the side netting.

Another two minutes on and we were on the attack. A ball forward by Glennon to Beadling resulted in a shot from 20 yards which went wide of the left post. Seconds later, another good build up by Glennon, Rooney and Hutton tested Stone.

In the 24th minute we went ahead. A superb long ball forward found Kay in space and he expertly ran at the Vale defence and picked his spot for the shot, beating Stone who couldn’t stop the effort nestling just inside the left post.

In the 40th minute, Hall was booked for a foul on Hutton but Glennon’s free kick was cleared. Five minutes later, Farman was booked for time-wasting as we saw out the first period with the 1-0 lead intact.

Vale upped the pressure in the second half. Seven minutes in, an Amoo cross was cleared for a Worrrall corner. We did well to match the threat with some effective build ups and, in the 58th minute, a Hutton cross into the area led to handball shouts from Barrow fans who had to be content with a Rooney corner.

Sadly, it was from said corner that Vale equalised. Amoo won possession from the kick and a fast break by Charlsey followed, assisting Proctor to volley a the 59th minute goal and leave Barrow shell-shocked.

A minute later, after Vale replaced Amoo with Harratt, Vale were in again, easily bypassing our defence on the right-hand side, Proctor feeding Wilson for a shot across goal and past the left post.

Another minute later and the same tactic was employed, this time Walker feeding Worrall and Farman coming to Barrow’s rescue.

We didn’t capitulate to the pressure and in the 63rd minute, Walker was booked for fouling Kay on another break to Vale’s goal. Rooney’s free kick from 25 yards went wide of the left post. Kay then shot wide from range, but a minute later was replaced by Grayson.

In the 69th minute, Vale were back on the attack, Farman doing well to block a close-range Proctor effort.

Three minutes later, Martin fouled Holloway and Platt headed wide from Glennon’s free kick. Two more Barrow substitutions followed, Rooney and Glennon being replaced by James and Gordon.

In the 81st minute, we had another chance on goal from a Banks free-kick, Gordon just not able to connect with a close-range shot- but it would have been offside anyway.

By this time it was really end-to-end, and a mistake by either side when stretching themselves was going to prove costly. In the 87th minute, Vale replaced Worrall with Edmondson. A minute later, Banks overhit a cross to Hutton in the middle of the pitch and, rather than let it run out for a throw-in, Hutton handled. Walker’s free kick was launched goalwards and Martin punished Barrow, grabbing the winner with one minute of normal time left.

Vale saw out the five minutes of added time, and substitute Edmondson even managed a further shot on goal two minutes in. Four minutes in, with the game won, Taylor replaced Wilson.

A very frustrating afternoon with our valiant battling efforts resulting in no points, but we can surely take some heart from the more attacking performance which nearly gained a share of the spoils against a team fighting for promotion.

Yes now he's back in charge it's back to Radio Carlisle United, as the last hour is proving!

It was a disgrace .We keep being told if you phone in Barrow will feature.
95% of the Carlisle content was Philips,Simpson there Captain total syciophantic giving them at least 35 minutes and Barrow about 5 minutes

Who appoints them? Keep hearing no one at club has experience, so who makes right decision on appointing people with experience

If we are changing managers (again) I think we should go for an up and coming successful one from the National League rather than an ex-league manager looking for an easy payday.

Big improvement today plenty to work on for Browny and his team. We more than matched a top three side this afternoon. More pressure than ever now on the lads but we showed we can more than compete against promotion chasing teams let’s go for it.

Agree 100%. You need and we should have been paying £60k plus a year for two experienced people working full time for those posts.

Better, unfortunately the daft little mistakes are still there. Their first goal came from that poor corner by Rooney (was that his second or third today?) straight down the other end and all the hard work was undone. I said after that went in we’re going to struggle now as they were well on top. Second goal, and another silly/amateurish mistake leading up to it…Hutton - hand ball, what went through his head?
At least we can now get the ball forward instead of death by a thousand back and sideway passes.

If (if) we stay up then this team is going to need a big overhaul because most of them aren’t (or shouldn’t be) even squad players at this level. Yet Cooper in his wisdom even signed one up for next season. His legacy will still be haunting us for another year.

Apologies if I am wrong but I assumed you meant Stevenage would have three easy points, Scunny clearly aren''t rolling over yet. Incidentally reading the Stevenage forum is like a duplicate of ours. Their fans seem equally resigned to the drop particularly after today.
