Some absolute shite shouts on here why is everyone so keen on failed managers. Get someone in who’s built something on a budget instead of everyone else’s fast offs

This is pure speculation on my part, but it could be that PB wasn't satisfied with the budget for players, the location of training, the absence of an academy or a combination of all three.

In which case the board did well not just to bow down to his demands if it turns out they were ridiculous; how many of us all thought the training in Barrow idea was stupid? Thankfully we have got rid rather than just let him spend another fortune on bad ideas, we’ve already done plenty of that since we got promoted

David Unsworth has been managing Everton U23 since 2017. He left Everton when Frank Lampard was appointed to further his managerial career elsewhere

What I want to know is how have we gone from a done deal where only the terms had to be agreed to another period of uncertainty before the season starts .What our club needs is stability if we are to remain a football league club.This is the third season we are about to embark on with everything up in the air.We can,t carry on like this.How many players will be willing to stay with all that is going on.Personally until we have a settled squad with a manager fir more than one season I can only see us going backwards.

I’d be surprised if anything is made public regarding why there was a deal breaker. We are mere supporters and not automatically privy to such things. As I’ve said earlier, guesswork is exhausting (and pointless). I agree with you about what we require, but getting harder to achieve. We are bound to be getting a reputation for being trigger happy with managers, but equally sending out a message that we don’t know what we are doing. I am 100% behind the owners, though this is based on their own money going in to keep the club going. At the moment it’s difficult to demand or question anything when fundamentally their footballing hearts are in the right place. I can’t help but wonder however, if there is an element of naïveté, and bullishness, which could be a dangerous combination. I also think all this will have a far from positive effect on the players. Many of the squad immediately in limbo. Adam’s next interview with PH will (or should) be captivating.

A done deal is usually one where terms have been agreed, hence both the protagonists indicating that the contract had gone off to lawyers in advance of the crucial signing by the respective parties.

It would appear that one or both decided, with hindsight (and during the effective cooling off period common, for example, in many consumer contracts) that despite agreeing verbally, it was not actually for them. There are a million and one reasons why this could have occurred though the obvious ones you could probably count on one hand.

How is that working out? Nae offence to the lad, but I'm not seeing anything which says to me he is our messiah.
