The manager has said it and we all know it that we need to get another striker in. However, easier said than done. If Bennett has some sort of shin fracture (hopefully only a hairline one) that will take weeks to sort out as they are difficult injuries to shake off.

Trialist No 17 seemed to play as a left winger against fleetwood, then came on as a forward today for the last ten minutes, didn’t look convincing imo, but maybe he will be taken on as a project.

Trialist No 17 seemed to play as a left winger against fleetwood, then came on as a forward today for the last ten minutes, didn’t look convincing imo, but maybe he will be taken on as a project.

The Trialist that came on 10 mins from the end I think is the same lad that scored at Holker and Witton. 10 minutes wasnt enough time for him to have any sort of influence on the game, or to possibly see if he could plug that gap, plus, it would have been good to see him playing with Waters instead of replacing him

The trialist (Ciaran Dunne) who came on at left back for the last 30 mins did very well - particularly dangerous going forward and solid defensively. Left back is one of the 2 positions Wild wants to cover and if that's his regular standard he could end up as our back up left back.

We play lower league teams to get fitness and Bennett is put out for so long by a bad tackle.

When we play teams around our level we are beaten by wonder strikes in both games, is that not another way of saying we did not close them down.

Last season we had lots of possession but it came to nothing and the table reflected that.
A week away we have lost one of our main threats in Bennett and no one to replace him.
I thought the Sporting Director and Assistant Manager would have had contacts but it seems we are struggling.

How can a broken shin be bad planning it’s a contact sport injuries happen. They will even themselves out over the season

Like others concerned that this result has the feel of a continuation of last season of fighting performances but ultimate defeat by the odd goal. Let’s hope it’s not a foretaste of the season to come.

Waters was said on signing to be our number 9.

Bennett likely to have the 10 shirt and I guess many would see him as a dedicated centre forward, complementing Waters in a different forward role.

Wild continues to try to identify another out-and-out front man with another forty days of the transfer window to go and allegedly greater numbers of unsigned professionals than normal.

He is not, however, alone in such a quest. A couple of weeks ago, Bradford and Morecambe were said to be vying for a forward from a fellow L2 club with the latter allegedly in pole position - but things seem to have quietened...

We were in this all the way which is very frustrating because our all round play was good. Everything Wild says about out of possession work rate was on display, we didn't allow anyone from Salford to bring the ball forward through midfield. Tom White pressing from midfield more than i’ve ever seen, and that saw him with the ball in the box on several occasions, the point being that is how hard we are closing down teams if Tom White is in on goal in the box. We will certainly compete well this season but we will need to start making some of these count though.

Im confident we can get something at Stockport if we play with this level of intensity.

Personally I don't think anything can be gleaned about new season until seven or eight games have been played. Also most teams including us are likely to make more signings before the end of August. Far too early to panic.

Foley, Neal and Gotts will be a great midfield 3; the squad depth in midfield is miles better than last season.
Was very impressed with Whitfield first half in particular as well, looked very lively. After the stale football last year made a nice change to see someone take on their defender.
Hardly rocket science here but it’s plainly obvious we need another striker, Waters did ok, some decent runs in behind where no-one played the pass quickly enough but he didn’t scream out that he was the 20 goal man we are looking for

Where odds are quoted for us we are favourite to go down in every case. To keep it simple this is to finish bottom.
