Work on the new seats will have to be done before the EFL AGM(Sometime in June I think), we won`t have until the first game of the season to complete the work, fixtures will already be out, so if we fail to meet the deadline we are relegated to the National League. last game is May 6/7 so yes the clock is ticking, but something needs to be announced to put us all at ease.

A ground development of this significance should come with an air of excitement at our continued progress in the FL but there has been absolutely no club updates when everyone knows it needs to be done. Why the quiet? In contrast, the HSE roof was pretty quick to come together and was show cased by the club with great enthusiasm. This project is potentially bigger.

Having 1500 away fans at Barrow would be a logistical / planning nightmare. I just don’t think the club could cope. I think having segregation currently in the HSE is also a headache for the club and added to that there’s not one away fan comes away without saying it’s the worst away experience in the league.

Something has to change.

it remains to be seen what the club do. Every option provides a logistical / planning headache. Given that there is a new housing estate planned for the land across the road behind the Main-stand, getting any permanent structure of significance through planning will be a nightmare (right to light and all that)
I suspect we will go down the cheapest and easiest option to get through planning and get it done. Ie some sort of temporary structure.

If Accy can handle 2.5k away fans on a regular basis now I don't see why Barrow cant.

The first step for me is to split the end down the middle but with better but smaller segregation [ don't forget at Anfield that consists of just 3 rows of empty seats and a dozen cameras no lines of stewards no netting no barriers so it can be done ] I would do it properly as they do on the continent with a solid perspex screen with a small sterile area either side of it.

But if they dont get the away allocation up they are never going to generate the extra cash to pay for whatever solution they come up with to solve the seat issue.

And once its done they should market it to away fans like Accy used to " Going to Football like it used to be " to maximise the number of visiting fans attending.

Without help like this - and of course the fantastic gestures by the NSC we simply wouldn’t be able to take in some of the jobs we do…well, apart from litter picking!!

A little bit of an urgent appeal for some help, especially for those who can’t make it of a Sunday morning, here’s your chance to help us and the club out this weekend.

This is the refreshment hut behind the pop side that has been unused since it was put in. You might have noticed that in the Holker St/garage corner there is concrete plinth that has been put in with various supplies ready to be connected up. We need to move the hut the length of the ground but are struggling to do it on a Sunday as there are that many other jobs ongoing. If you can spare a couple of hours (literally that’s all it should take) on SATURDAY morning to help us it would be greatly appreciated and obviously help the club out as it should take a fair bit of money on home games - as well as a handy place for supporters to to take in refreshments on a match day. Most of the groundwork has already been done, it’s just s case of dismantling the four sides, the base and the roof.
We’ll be there from 8:00am but probably be ready to move it an hour later.
If we can’t reach a decent amount of volunteers there are no two ways around it…it simply cannot be moved. If you can make it could you please PM, e-mail, text me or simply reply on here so we know whether it’s going to be worth going to the ground on Saturday.

We would also like to thank the forum member and his wife who handed me an envelope last Saturday with a very nice cash donation inside, as always donations like this go 100% into materials for ground improvements, we never have to pay for tradespeople to do these jobs.

Accrington's average attendance last season was just over 3,000. They're not getting 2.5k away fans from anyone on that basis - Ipswich took 846 and they had the third highest away following in the division. I can't believe anyone outside Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland, Bolton, Wigan and Morecambe took more than that. On the other side, Wimbledon only took 189.

There’s only Bradford would bring those sort of numbers, we need an away end capacity of somewhere around 1000 for the 4/5 teams a season who could bring that. We’ve gone way off topic but yer ideally we need the capacity for another 4/500 away fans

Enough volunteers to move the hut into position but another couple of weeks before the water and electrics are completed. Will serve all the home fans in the Holker End and part of the Popular Side so should now provide everyone in the ground with easy access to food and drink.

There were about twelve Mike, put it this way, one less and it wouldn’t have been done…that’s how close it was. It was heavy, it was very awkward and there will be a few aching limbs today.
We don’t normally put appeals for help on here now as we very rarely get any new faces, we usually just do updates for everyone but we were hoping we’d get more than the one who turned up (your help was appreciated mate) Mike Forsyth managed to get a steward to help and another man turned up before having to leave at 9:30 for an appointment.
Two more off here would’ve made it so much easier, four more and it would’ve been a doddle.
