Harrogate v Barrow Match Thread

I'm afraid watching Barrow is like watching paint dry. The stats speak for themselves. Since November 1st when we scored 3 against Colchester there has only been 1 match where we have scored more than 1 goal which was against Mansfield. Other than that we have scored 0 in 10 matches and 1 in 8 matches. That's only once in 3 1/2 months where we've scored more than 1 goal! Luckily, we now have a solid defence which has kept us in a respectable mid-table position.

Reading your post is like watching paint dry.

The performance epitomised the inconsistency of our season. Six points from Bradford, Stockport and Walsall with good performances then back down to earth with a bump at Harrogate where traditionally we have struggled. 52 points from 37 games.
Would I have taken where we are now at the start of the season? You bet I would now on to Wimbledon at home next week

Benni on the scoresheet again today (4 goals in 4 games). Forget the standard of the opposition the lad is a natural with an eye for goal. Got to be worth a run-out before the season is out.

We could have Haaland up top if your not being fed decent ball then you ain’t going to score many. Game-plan never paid dividends today. They outfought us in midfield and their back four never had to break sweat. Jason Taylor could of strolled through that game like our midfield did.

Pete Wild has done an effective job - but since Hartlepool at home first half the football has been dire

The way Wild plays the game we are never going to dominate possession. His game plan is to try and pick up the seconds and get on the attack. It’s been effective in getting us to mid table and we’ve pulled off some good results but it’s never going to be a free flowing passing it around build up.

Think we have been a bit scarred by the Stevenage & Carlisle defeats. Problem is Wild is still trying to find the right balance. The attacking play but leaking defences of the first half of the season or the solid defence at the expense of expansive attacking. Difficult.

He’s got his preferred game plan and will stick with it. We’ve struggled to score goals even when we’ve had all attacking options on the pitch.

Very poor today. We never looked like winning. Too much percentage football and ball in the air. Harrogate looked much better keeping the ball on the ground most of the time. Added to that, the ref was weak, frequently conned by Harrogate, gave every 50/50 to them. A frustrating day!
