Despite us being back in the EFL for a few years now (and I’m sure it’s a very minimal amount) it still seems surreal little old Barrow buying players from someone like Arsenal

Promising signing, Should be very technical coming from the Arsenal’s youth development & has had some game time in L2 already, Will be raw for L2 & make mistakes ( As every single one of us does ) But obviously has bags of potential & has the physical stature to thrive once he’s fully adjusted to the club/league & has the legs our older CB don’t & could end up being a brilliant signing for us

Difficult to assess this one. I cant see PW having had much experience of him though I believe he did make an appearance against us last season. So this may be a case of a purchase made predominantly on scouting advice. Clearly it has been done with at least one eye on development and resale and the fact that it involves a fee from the mighty gunners also makes it unusual and interesting.

There's not much really to be gleaned from his time at Crawley though he did make quite a few appearances. However the problem for Crawley last season (one of many) was that when Kevin Betsy was brought in as manager he followed a strategy of bringing in youth over experience. So the Crawley ranks were quickly supplemented with a number of U23s. As we know when you add too many U23s into an EFL squad irrespective of where they come from, it rapidly becomes pretty shallow in terms of depth and performance and this was ultimately considered something to be remedied by Scott Lindsey following Betsy's sacking. So dont expect much considered opinion from Crawley supporters.

Yes, my Crawley supporting mate said he was crap. But, with better/more experienced players around him I'd expect him to be much better.

Mazeed Ogungbo has joined League Two side Barrow AFC in a permanent transfer.

The 20-year-old defender joined our academy in 2015 and has played a key part in youth football ever since. Mazeed’s hard work was rewarded when he signed his first professional contract for us in July 2021.

Mazeed made his under-18 debut for us at just 15 years old. The centre-back also made our first team matchday squad twice during the 2021/2022 season.

The Ireland youth international spent the 2022/2023 season on loan at Crawley Town, where he made 27 appearances in all competitions for the League Two team.

We thank Mazeed for his contribution and wish him all the best with Barrow AFC.

The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.

Arsenal regarded him as a centre back but Crawley seem to have played him at left back.

Agree. You dont allow someone on the pitch 27 times in a season if he is "crap" unless you are a complete idiot. He was also played out of position in what was the second worst defence in L2. Crawley were utter crap last season and its not looking too good for them so far next season judging by their lack of incomings and their growing fear and resentment of their owners.

Crawley were little more than a basket case last season on and off the field so that can be taken with a pinch of salt.I am more impressed by the fact he has spent eight years at Arsenal.I know from personal (friends and family) experience that the majority of youngsters unless they show potential rarely last at one club (particularly at top Prem level) for more than 3-4 years. On a frivolous side note I am already hearing the terrace chant linked to the old 'Um Bongo' drink advert

90% of football signings are on scouting advice this is no different. I don’t recall you saying about the loan lads last year who he wouldn’t Have known

Think he is still developing and hopefully be a good find.The fact he came from Arsenal should be taken with a taken with a pinch of salt.
In 1969 -70 we brought in Barry Mcarthur from Notts Forest,Charlie Cooper from Bolton'
Richard Davis from Bristol City,Mick Hollis from Leicester.
Cooper was the best of the lot

The only reason for the comment was that this is a permanent signing with a fee not a loan.. The majority of players that PW has signed he has admitted having tracked or known.
