Re: Stockport County match thread
Seen the kick on Duffus red card all day but can`t change what happened in the game, have we missed Farman I know a lot of forum members don`t like him and would like him out of the Club so should we stick with Lillis when Farman is fit, anyone going for a 0-0 draw next week v Wrexham.

None of which would help us.Methuselah wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 7:10 pm Can we not send a video of the incident to the FA and get the yellow card increased to a red for dangerous play or is there no way we can appeal the decision? If V A R had been used it would have definitely have been a red and a three game ban for the Stockport player.

The day the opinion of any member of this forum has any influence on team selection really will be the end!behind the goals wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 8:49 pm Seen the kick on Duffus red card all day but can`t change what happened in the game, have we missed Farman I know a lot of forum members don`t like him and would like him out of the Club so should we stick with Lillis when Farman is fit, anyone going for a 0-0 draw next week v Wrexham.
Re: Stockport County match thread
Personally I think Farman is a far better keeper than Lillis and can't see him sitting on the bench if not carrying a knock and as mentioned above we don't pick the team so the odd number on here wanting him out for what ever reason won't change thingsolefogey wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 10:02 pmThe day the opinion of any member of this forum has any influence on team selection really will be the end!behind the goals wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 8:49 pm Seen the kick on Duffus red card all day but can`t change what happened in the game, have we missed Farman I know a lot of forum members don`t like him and would like him out of the Club so should we stick with Lillis when Farman is fit, anyone going for a 0-0 draw next week v Wrexham.![]()

Re: Stockport County match thread
Bit of an over/reaction.
We kept pace with Stockport in the first half. Then they introduced Akil Wright which upped ttheir tempo in midfield. After this they became dominant.
Despite results they have an array of quality players available and were able to move the ball more quickly especially in our box. They made us look a little leggy as a result.
Their potential weakness was in defence but they kept us from getting behind their’s and mopped up the crosses that did come in.
The exit of Duffus meant that Acquah became the workhorse for the attack and eventually tired. Proctor had a poor game but was continually invited to be the playmaker. He is not. He’s a finisher pure and simple but was never put in a position to finish.
Tiensia looked very promising and Acquah was a real handful but we didn’t have the overall quality for 90 minutes to sustain our attacks.
Stockport have an array of players that we can only dream of. Essentially we had four players on the pitch who were in non-league last season. And they only beat us with a deflected goal that Lillis had no chance with. I thought he also played well.
Don’t expect miracles. County will be at the top end of the table in short order. There are few more difficult places to try and get a result than at Edgeley Park. Save your indignation for when we lose at Harrogate

Re: Stockport County match thread
This is why Pete Wild got so annoyed after Carlisle game last season and rightfully so. We could do this but what benefit is it to us? That day Carlisle would have been down to 10 men, instead their next 3 opponents got the benefit instead. And people (well not really people them inbred [SwearFilter] from up the coast) say about Wild moaning about refs; he has every right to when you see a decision like that. Red card if someone from Barrow makes that same challenge and we all know itMethuselah wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 7:10 pm Can we not send a video of the incident to the FA and get the yellow card increased to a red for dangerous play or is there no way we can appeal the decision? If V A R had been used it would have definitely have been a red and a three game ban for the Stockport player.

Not sure if this will work - photo of Courtney Duffus from the County Yellowboard forum - they unanimously agree it should have been a red.
Re: Stockport County match thread
I tried to understand the rules in the FA site but they are not clear cut. There is “serious foul play” and “dangerous play”. Some of the explanatory notes seem to leave a lot to ref’s judgement - was it reckless, was the offender “in control of his movement”, etc. It was certainly dangerous, but perhaps more careless than reckless. Certainly not a case of intentional foul play in my book.Bakewell Blue wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 5:26 am

A good honest interview from Dave Challinor after the game who said himself that he could have had no complaints if a red card had been shown for the challenge on Duffus.

Where would that not come under dangerous play
Re: Stockport County match thread
Not allowed, as Carlisle fans will call Wild a grass.Methuselah wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 7:10 pm Can we not send a video of the incident to the FA and get the yellow card increased to a red for dangerous play or is there no way we can appeal the decision? If V A R had been used it would have definitely have been a red and a three game ban for the Stockport player.

The one I attached above was the “after”, with stitches. This is the before, without them …..ouch!

When you compare that one to what Feely was sent off for against Newport last season - crikey moses!HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 12:57 am Red card if someone from Barrow makes that same challenge and we all know it
Re: Stockport County match thread
To put your foot up to challenge for the ball at head height is dangerous play and a red card. It doesn’t need explaining. It was completely reckless and should have been a red card without question.
