I really fear for Morecambe should they end up in the national league. They could very easily go the same way as Scunthorpe have and York did before they got new investment.

Re: Morecambe v Barrow, match thread
Just saying it as I saw it, there was arm waving and shouting (although I never heard what was said) but it didn’t look great. There were plenty of others who thought the same and one poster has already said some supporters had a go at the lad…..if we’re all talking about the same incident.
Anyway, back to the game. I wonder how much interest there would be in Angol if Morecambe are relegated? Each time I’ve seen him he’s been a proper handful for defenders.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: Morecambe v Barrow, match thread
Don't think anyone covered themselves in glory for their second but don't think it was a particular error by Farman. If it was, more than made up for it with the Dallas stop. Not sure he could've speeded the game up any so not sure why that would be a criticism.
We were far too reliant on Whitfield, looked to him pretty much every time we went forward despite others being in space and made it easier for Morecambe to defend. He is pretty handy though.
Newby might want to think about going outside on his left foot once in a while. Ended up putting everything through the middle which suited them.
Not sure a load more shooting from distance would've helped, think it would've just helped take the pressure off them.
Little one enjoyed herself at her first game though so all good!

Angol is terrible though, we made him look half decent but wouldn't want him in my team every or any week.

For the second, he was glued to the spot, he didn’t move at all and the ball went right under his arm at about 1 mph.
And he’s always been slow on restarts, doesn’t throw it out quick enough, waits and spins like a top.

Seen the highlights. We got away with that Dallas miss. That goes in we would have a mountain to climb.
Tyler Smith is the best finisher at the club. I have no doubt he would be our top scorer if we had him from the start of the season. He just places himself to anticipate opportunities coming his way. If Bradford go up they may look to offload him.

Tyler is the fox in the box that we have not had since he was here last under Ian Evatt. Yes he will miss chances but at least he gets in the position to have a go and sniff them out. I wouldn't be against us sighning him next season should Bradford offload him.Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 2:52 pm Seen the highlights. We got away with that Dallas miss. Didn't say a load more shooting I went on to say we can't do it all the time but need to do it a little more than we do. Need to mix up our attacking options to make a low block defensive unit try to second guess what we are trying to do. Too many times we all could predict what Barrow were going to do - pass inside then try to grab a goal inside the box etc etc

Re: Morecambe v Barrow, match thread
One thing I have not seen mentioned by Barrow fans but irked Derek Adams and Morecambe fans was the pull down by Pressley of the morecambe defender when Spence crossed it in for Newby to head back and Gotts to tap it in. Plainly evident on the Barrow AFC Alternative angle video. Im not sure I would be to happy if that was against us. We deffo go away with on there IMO.

Re: Morecambe v Barrow, match thread
They complained about it on the Shrimps forum, as part of a general moan about the referee and about Presser in particular. There was a lot of stuff on their live match thread about the Whitfield incident, which they thought he milked (hence the booing of Whits throughout the match), but a later post accepts that it was a bad foul, once they have seen the replay.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 3:30 pm One thing I have not seen mentioned by Barrow fans but irked Derek Adams and Morecambe fans was the pull down by Pressley of the morecambe defender when Spence crossed it in for Newby to head back and Gotts to tap it in. I was only listening, but it sounded like an entertaining game.

Re: Morecambe v Barrow, match thread
Was sat absolutely in line with Angol for their second goal. The ball took a significant deflection from the first defender and that changed the trajectory of the ball into the box. Unfortunately for Farman he got himself almost in line behind a second defender and then Dallas came in and either deliberately or accidentally also shielded Farman from sight of the ball. I don’t think Farman saw the ball after Angol kicked it.
Looked pretty clear to me that Farman didn’t know exactly where the ball was. The deflection meant that it wasn’t where he thought it would be. He was then shielded from sight of the ball which then went past him.
Made him look a bit stupid. But really it was unfortunate rather than a bad mistake.
