Fixtures 25/26

Post by Hitthebar22 » Thu May 29, 2025 12:28 pm

Apologies in advance if this has been covered elsewhere already (but I don’t recall seeing anything).
The fixtures for next season will be released on 26th June, at noon, and the Carabao Cup first round draw is at 4.30pm the same day.

Don't forget folks….Fixture release Thursday 26th, 12:00pm

Also Carabao Cup 1st round draw for 70 of 72 teams. There is a Carabao Cup Preliminary round featuring the teams who finished 21st (Accrington) and 22nd (Newport) taking on the newly promoted sides - Oldham and Barnet respectively.

I'd missed that. Frankly I think it's insulting to make teams in a league go through a qualifying round to play in their own league cup. There must have been another solution.

What would your solution be out of interest?

Big clubs put out second or third strings maybe, like Liverpool did when in the World Club Cup a few years back. It isn't the fault of Accrington, Oldham, Barnet or Newport that more teams are playing in Europe and have fixture congestion.

You mean when Liverpool we're made to play the same night so had no choice?

Yes that is what I mean and I know the circumstances, hence the reference to third strings.

Still annoying that FA cup replays were stopped because of too many fixtures for these big clubs.
As soon as the season finished Man U went on a tour raking in 12 million. Then this mickey mouse comp going on now.
Boils my [SwearFilter] to be honest. All the Prem teams have hiked up prices for the regular fans too.

Great post bud. I've never felt more distanced from the top level game. As someone said of Old Trafford recently - it was full of business men not football men. Last game l watched was the so-called Champions League Final - it was more like the Super bowl than ever. Maybe it's me.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

Manchester City have dropped the prices of their match day tickets by quite a significant amount for next season. Info in link below.

Or simply draw any four teams at random. Even if they restricted that to EFL teams.

The newly promoted League 2 teams have consistently proved not to be inferior for several years. Ironically we probably came closest to being the exception.

Storm in a Carabao tea cup. Though I do feel a little sorry for Barnet and Oldham. Must feel like they’ve still got their provisional licence.

Would be ironic if either drew the same teams in either of the opening fixtures of the season though. However they should look on the bright side. Both Accy and Newport should be considered quite beatable.
