League Cup game - PNE
Reading the PNE fans forum site it appears some of their fans think they’ll sell out their allocation. Surely we could temporarily extend the away end for this match.

We tried that last season when Derby County came but they ended up only bringing around 700 when given 1300 tickets.FanzoneFan wrote: ↑Mon Jul 28, 2025 7:27 pm Reading the PNE fans forum site it appears some of their fans think they’ll sell out their allocation. Preston rather nearer than Derby.

It's not just a case of extending the barriers, it's the services for the area, toilets etc that restrict the away numbers unfortunatelyFanzoneFan wrote: ↑Mon Jul 28, 2025 7:27 pm Reading the PNE fans forum site it appears some of their fans think they’ll sell out their allocation. Hoping we get a lot of people wanting to come to the match. Higher league opposition in a cup match at home ! Starting well in the league will help

It is, so surely we’re missing a trick by not extending the away end like we did for the Derby County game. It seems to me we’re missing out on an opportunity to make more money.Cubbins Paratrooper wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 4:24 pm Good to see that PNE has sold its ticket allocation.

I believe EFL rules stipulate that away ticket allocations need to be handed over four weeks prior to the game. I assume this is to stop the sale of tickets close to the day of the game to ensure it can be controlled and policed correctly.FanzoneFan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 8:53 amIt is, so surely we’re missing a trick by not extending the away end like we did for the Derby County game. Clearly a club can offer more tickets (than the 10% stipulation) within that period if demand is there but that would presumably mean that the club would have to redo its risk analysis and adjust stewarding and policing levels. So additional cost.
I guess therefore that you would not wish to go down this route unless the additional demand were big enough to justify the additional cost. You wouldn’t do this for 100 extra bodies but you might for 300. And you’d need to be happy that all of those tickets would be sold.

Did we extend it for Derby? They didn’t sell out, despite initial claims that they’d bring thousands.FanzoneFan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 8:53 amIt is, so surely we’re missing a trick by not extending the away end like we did for the Derby County game. It isn’t as easy as just saying let’s extend the away end; in theory that’s a great ideaFanzoneFan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 8:53 amIt is, so surely we’re missing a trick by not extending the away end like we did for the Derby County game.
