Yes we struggled last 20 minutes but that's after 3 really tough games that have been physically and mentally draining but this team dug in and we did it !, thought a draw was a fair result but that was before that late late winner it's been a long time since we've won in such dramatic fashion absolutely buzzing!

My MoM was Tom Barkhuizen. His play down the left and delivery for the goal was top drawer. Everything was in slow motion for the winner!!

We were just physically tired Jonty and no real quality to replace booty, Walker Earing and Mahoney who were all struggling near the end but I expected this !,
Don't forget Notts County while struggling now didn't seem too bad but if they've a fault they played like we did last season all possession but no end product!

Let’s roll into Harrogate with confidence

A massive cheer lifted the roof off Holker Street as Lewis Shipley netted a 97th minute winner after we had been pegged back in the 89th minute.

Barrow put in a very determined and resilient shift against a Notts County side who dominated possession for large periods of the game, and we created some good chances, notably in the first half, when we did get the ball. Continuing the level of performance against Preston North End, which saw us hit the woodwork twice and only lose due to a freak own-goal, today better fortune was on our side.

Our first shot on target came within 30 seconds, Roos saving a Mahoney shot from the left side of the box.

In the 7th minute, Earling was fouled and Jackson’s free kick, launched into the area, saw Raglan head wide.

In the first half we fashioned more chances and, in the 24th minute a good run by Earing and build up by Mahoney and Jackson saw Earing regain the ball. He was then fouled by Dennis just outside the area but Jackson’s free kick was cleared.

In the 32nd minute our persistence paid off as Barkhuizen crossed low from the left along the goal-line and Tyler Walker applied the finishing touch from very close range for 1-0.

Five minutes later, Luker also crossed from the left along Barrow’s goal-line but there was no-one by prod the ball home.

In the 44th minute but Barrow’s Earing and County’s Luker went down injured, resulting in four minutes of added time in which Luker was replaced by Grant. Earing would last out until the 64th minute to be replaced himself.

We rode out our narrow lead increasingly nail-bitingly as the second half progressed. At first we looked reasonably comfortable, Earing heading wide from a Booty cross in the 54th minute.

However, a minute later, only a well-timed tackle in the area by Shipley thwarted Iopenda who was through on goal Seconds later, adding to the pressure on Barrow with fresh legs, County brought on ex-Bluebird Matty Platt and Tsaroulla for Aljofree and Bennetts.

In the 59th minute a Gordon cross was put out by Shipley for a Jones corner, which Barrow cleared. Two minutes later, a Jones shot was blocked and then Stanway went down for treatment after saving another Jones shot. In fact, Jones was causing us problems for most of the game!

While Wyll was being treated, the also-injured Earing was finally replaced by Cameron in the 65th minute.

On the restart, Booty’s free kick for a foul on Walker was blocked. Roos saved a Barkhuizen cross in the 72nd minute.

However, Notts County once again re-asserted their second half dominance with a 73rd minute sharp shot from Iorpenda saved by Stanway. A minute later, Grant shot just over the bar.

A double change by the Bluebirds in the 77th minute, sought to steady the ship as our energy and concentration levels were tested with the heat, Foley and Newby coming on for Walker and Mahoney. County replaced Gordon with Cotter, and after Platt went down injured, County went down to 10 men having used all their substitutes.

In the 83rd minute, Canavan was booked for dissent. With a man advantage we pressed on to extend our lead, Foley being fouled by Bedeau for a Jackson free kick in the 86th minute. Initially cleared, Roos then had to deal with a Raglan header.

However, a rapid advance and poor marking in the 89th minute saw County on level terms, Tsaroulla crossing to Dennis to head home.

Although the visitors had earned a draw with their efforts, this sucker punch appeared to deny us our first win of the campaign.

However, then six minutes of extra time was announced. After Stanway dealt with a shot from Grant in the first minute, we retook the initiative and mounted a series of good attacking moves.

The Barrow fans were relieved that we looked likely to rescue a point, and, in the sixth minute of added time, Newby tested Roos with a shot. However, this was not our last chance as a minute later- and seconds before the final whistle- Lewis Shipley fired home from in front of goal for 2-1 and the Barrow crowd went wild.

Players and manager were given a lengthy ovation in what should be a vital confidence booster for the team, strength of character rescuing three points against very strong opposition after the setback 7 minutes earlier.

Attendance was 3,285 including 543 visiting fans.

At times, we played good football, with intent and passion.
Not easy playing in these kind of temperature's and to get a last gasp goal shows the mentality that' whing expects, as all of us do.. could be a very interesting season as we haven't even got going yet!

I wonder how many Barrow fans missed that?

Hands up I was walking past the entrance to the Cross bar when the winner went in. We controlled the game up until Platt hobbled off. Then our shape was gone, they pushed on and I thought that was that at 1-1! Pleased to get three points on the board and hopefully that has kickstarted our season.

What a fantastic finish to a pretty good performance today. Some very good one-touch passing at times, Smith rightly getting MOM. Just a mention for Canavan, we all know he lacks a bit of pace, but his positioning makes up for it. They were decent but nothing special. Would be disappointed if we don't get at least a point on Tuesday

Good performance today. Even though we had lost 3 games on the bounce for me the signs were there that these lads can play and will get better as the season goes on.

We have had a tough start and I would have happily take three points from the first three games and that is what we have got. Chesterfield have won all 3 of their league games and look what MK did to Cheltenham today 5:0.

Some of the one touch passing today was a joy to watch and as the understandings grow in the team we can only improve. On to Harrogate on Tuesday and hopefully another positive result.

Well done team and manager.Must be hard playing in these hot conditions.We have improved our performances in each of last three games and hopefully this win will give team confidence and conviction to Manager that his plan is working.Not the biggest crowd but we are always down a bit in August with people on holiday.The last gasp winner was unexpected and the crowds reaction brilliant.Enjoyable day.Rest up and onward to Harrogate.

Players seem to be tired after the first half efforts.
When equaliser went in they looked down but never gave up and were rewarded.
Shipley looked like a forward the way he scored.

HNOTH there, Nige. It seemed very, very surreal as I tend to generally think Barrow don't get breaks like that do they? (meaning such a late, late, late winner that came even beyond the allotted six minutes of stoppage-time). I wonder if, and when, we ever scored a decisive winning goal as late as the 97th minute? Has it ever happened? Maybe some stattoxpert is going to tell us??? I have to confess that after they got their late equaliser the pessimist in me wondered if it was going to be their ten men who would grab a late winner.
