Every head coach we have had has said they worked as a team on recruitment; that they, the coaches, would say who they wanted and Wood would go off and try to negotiate a deal. It could well be that Iain Wood brought names to the table that he had been offered but the idea that such players were then foisted on the head coach without his agreement - and then being told to play them - seems fanciful to me.
Unfortunately MrP, you are wasting your time trying to explain this….even though it’s been said over & over & over again by the owners. All you’ll get back is “I heard this”…I was told that”…IW got rid of Wild”…Not ONE of these people have any sort of proof, just a mix of rumours and what they’ve made up themselves - and I get that this is a forum and it’s for opinions but it’s hard to understand why some people can’t accept what the BoDs have said over & over. It’s bordering on obsessive.
Anyway, away from the gossip I’ll give my personal take on Iain Wood as we dealt with him quite a lot. He had so many projects for us that have improved the club - not all noticeable and many that supporters won’t even realise have been done, many that supporters won’t ever get to see but all to improve the facilities for the club. I remember the football game at DD2, we were sat in the main stand watching the game and I could see him several rows in front of us pointing out areas of the ground to Rickie Wallbank…we knew then they were other areas of the ground he wanted improving, it was constant

Like him or not, he had the best interests of the club at heart and imo doesn’t deserve some of the comments that have been directed at him on here and FB.
Should he have gone? Well I suppose as DoF the buck had to stop with him but as has been said - others have to take their share of the blame, plus with the drop in income I suppose his position was probably first on the list to go.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
