Re: Danny Rose
I'm sure Rose is gutted at leaving us but that's nothing new hes just joins the list of players the Club have signed usually on 2 year contracts to steal a wage at 33 will be his last on the 2 year EFL cycle, just need a few more to go now, at least the majority of Murrays new signings are on 1 year contracts.

Let's hope none turn out to be world class and walk away after the year, whereupon the forum goes into meltdown and cries of "why didn't we tie them down to a 3/5/10/Lifetime contract?"behind the goals wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 11:32 am ...at least the majority of Murrays new signings are on 1 year contracts.
Cynical, me?
La lucha continua...
Re: Danny Rose
Not too fussed he's gone. Had the odd decent game, but despite the reputation he came with I don't think he did too much of any significance for us. He certainly wasn't the sort of action man the Grimsby fans talked about.
He'll probably get Exeter promoted now!

Re: Danny Rose
They've only scored 4 goals but only conceded 4 so it looks as though the defence is already the strongest part of the team and it will need to be with a strike force of Gordon and Rose.

Well, at the moment, this team is a very long way from being as good as Cox's team.Pedro wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 9:28 amVery much like Rooney who left to share child minding with his wife who was a nurse.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 7:32 am To ago down to the south coast to Exeter tells me he must have been desperate to get away. I remember hearing Steve Evans saying when Rose left Stevenage for Grimsby that he let him go due to him hating being down south as he was to far away from family
Them suddenly re appeared to then leave again.
Looks like we are building a team like Cox gave us big but not as strong

Re: Danny Rose
There's no doubt that Danny Rose has been a good player. However, he was on the way down when we got him otherwise Grimsby wouldn't have got rid of him. He probably still could have done a decent job had he got any balls coming into the 6 yard box but we never had anybody who could give him any service and he'd lost any pace to do anything outside the penalty area.

Re: Danny Rose
And in a poor team that didn’t create many ‘box entries’ as Murray calls it, and a team that was short on quality and belief. Not a terrible return, he’d not played much football for Grimsby in the months before he came to us and probably didn’t know what shambles he was signing up for.behind the goals wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 7:17 pmRose scored 4 goals in his time at the Club.
v Swindon(a) L 3-1
v Salford(a) L 3-1
v Bromley(h) W 2-1
v Oldham(h) W 3-2
So farewell Danny and thank you.
Hard to really judge anyone in that team in all honesty - Jovan Malcolm looked nothing and he has just got 2 in 2 for York.

Re: Danny Rose
Quite possibly he also hasn’t featured much either and doesn’t seem to fit with the type of team that Murray is putting together. Oh for a Matt Henney type on the right wing!

Re: Danny Rose
What pace Whits had has gone IMO and he is a shadow of the player we had when he first signed and has been since he came back last season.
Re: Danny Rose
He had a few injuries last season and it never really happened for him or the team but I thought he showed a couple of glimpses still. Probably not quite the player he was no but I guess if he was he wouldn’t be at this level again with us, but he’s still only 30 and I’d still like to see him given a few games, just don’t think it’s likely to happen from what we’ve seen so far. A shame as with Reid and Cameron upfront we are crying out for good wingers and crosses, he may not have the same pace but he can cross better than Walker can on what I’ve seen of him so far.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2026 8:37 pmWhat pace Whits had has gone IMO and he is a shadow of the player we had when he first signed and has been since he came back last season.

Re: Danny Rose
Strong words from Murray regarding Rose departure in The Mail. The two obviously didn’t see eye to eye
