Didn’t clear it 1-1
Re: Barrow v Eastleigh match thread
A little Disappointing to lose a late goal
But was a scrappy game what I saw of it, not a lot of chances and maybe a point is fair. Eastleigh defended well and kept going. It’s another point, another match unbeaten, and at the beginning 4 points from a Tuesday and Saturday you’d probably have taken the other way around if we’d drawn at Halifax. A free hit next week at Gillingham so no pressure and you never know upsets happen, maybe it will be our turn.

Disappointed we let that slip but in all honesty I think they deserved a draw very direct and well set up and very physical, still unbeaten and we won't win them all ,this group will make mistakes but as long as they learn that's what counts !

We got lucky when matey missed a sitter in the first minute. So all in all not too shabby a result.

Good point thought they had the better of the chances but Cameron could have had 2 or 3. We go again

Draw was the right result really. Disappointing when you go ahead late on and don’t win but we didn’t do enough to win

Two goals apiece in added time means we are nine undefeated, but have dropped a place to be overtaken by Carlisle. We have a game in hand on them though. To be fair, a battling Eastleigh defended well and also had a potent goalscoring threat in the form of Aaron Blair who scored a hat-trick in their last home game.
Blair nearly stunned the Bluebirds 90 seconds in when he blazed wide in front of goal, having cut through our defence. He finally found the net to equalise 10 minutes into 20 minutes of added time, 7 minutes after Mooney had put Barrow into the lead.
That early scare in the second minute was followed by a Rankine shot wide of the post 5 minutes later as we struggled to settle. Our brand new loanee from Stoke City, Pijus Otegbayo, was booked for pushing 10 minutes in.
Our first effort on goal came in the 12th minute when a Thompson cross from the left hit the right post. Three minutes later, Townsend punched away an Oakley shot. Our No.2 was awarded man of the match, but Cameron was also a contender.
We came close again in the 27th minute from a Ward corner rolled into the area, Latty-Fairweather shooting just wide. Thompson then shot wide again and Cameron had a shot blocked as Eastleigh proved difficult to break down.
At the other end Winterbottom saved a Rankine cross from the right in the 36th minute, then Blair fired wide of the right post three minutes later.
0-0 was fair at half-time in what had become a scrappy affair. The second half continued in similar vein.
Eastleigh replaced Johnson with Koiki at half-time. Within seconds of the restart, Winterbottom had to save a Dic kov cross.
Thompson shot over the bar from the edge of the area in the 52nd minute.
Four minutes later, we rode our luck when Williams corner was blocked in the penalty area and it looked like our defender could have unfortunately handled. Fortunately, this wasn’t adjudged to be the case and a quick counter from that block by Allen saw Thompson shoot over.
In the 58th minute Allen was fouled and Ward’s free kick was punched away by Townsend.
Five minutes later we made a triple change when Ward was replaced by Marriott, Allen by Mooney and Harper by Kouyate.
In the 67th minute, Eastleigh’s Temi Eweka went down after a clash of heads, Thompson being booked. The injury required lengthy treatment and Eweka was stretchered off to applause from all the fans. Let’s hope he recovers quickly.
Play resumed in the 83rd minute, the injured Eweka being replaced by Stone.
Two minutes after the restart, Townsend saved a Mooney corner. Two minutes later a good run by Kouyate gave Cameron a header which he placed wide. A minute later, a 20-yard Marriott shot went wide of the post. We were now knocking at the door, but Eastleigh were proving resilient. The game increased in intensity, both teams frantically fighting for every ball, and Eastleigh also sensed they could counter quickly.
The crowd of 2,262, including 34 who had made the long journey from Eastleigh, and 18 minutes of added time were both announced.
Two minutes in, Mooney had a shot blocked. A minute later, we made the breakthrough as a cross from Cameron was met by Mooney.
Still quarter of an hour to play and it was now end-to-end in cup-match style. Winterbottom saved an Eastleigh shot, then Thompson shot wide at the other end.
In the eighth minute of added time, we replaced Thompson with Edwards.
Three minutes later, Eastleigh equalised as Stone, their substitute who replaced the stretchered off Eweka, cut through our defence and threaded through to Blair who fired in from the right past Winterbottom.
Another three minutes later, a Mooney free kick for a foul on Marriott by Williams was cleared. Kouyate was then booked bringing our card tally to three against none for the visitors.
In the 17th minute of time added, a Marriott shot was saved and, at the other end, Blair shot wide a minute and a half before the end of the game. A good job the goalscorer was off target for both his close shots on goal 90 seconds in and 90 seconds from the end!
In the end both teams earned a deserved point.
