Club to go to cashless payments

Well absolutely gobsmacked by this.Like most I have a debit card but because contactless cards are so fraught to be used easily by scum if you unfortunately lose it I only take mine out on shopping trips and always draw and use plenty of cash for things like lunch out drinks etc.I consider I am a fairly modern pensioner but I think that this is a rushed ill thought decision that will upset a lot of people.If our bigger stores Tesco B and M etc are happy to accept cash or card think we should be too.These businesses know that a lot of the older generation are not comfortable with electronic banking etc in any form .The idea that parents will quite happily put £50 on a child’s card for the infrequent trips they make make to holker street would be laughable if it didn’t show just how out of touch the ceo and board are as to how a lot of people in Barrow live.Bae May pay well and some people have good occupational pensions but there are a large amount of older people not in fortunate positions to do this.People should not be arbitrarily forced to go cashless at a family friendly club.Too much change too soon is now alienating a lot of the fan base and it has been stated many times the majority of them are older people.By all means give people choice card or cash payments but if you present this decision in this form you will have falling attendances right from the start.The most annoying to me is that this board decision seems to have been made with no consultation with our supporters liaison officer which really undermines him and shows we are an afterthought plus if the Trust were consulted beforehand why were not the obvious objections raised on this thread anticipated.Really disappointed with the board over this .
Is it the intention to not have the wooden huts selling refreshments in ground?Cant believe people need a card to buy coffee and a pay.Put out a retraction ASAP and rethink a compromise or a crises in support.

I have credit and debit cards but have the contactless element taken off as they scan them in parts of Central and South America.

I work in retail, I still have a fair few people of all ages who don't like using contactless, quite easy, insert card and enter PIN for transaction.
Still get people who's cards don't even have contactless, again just insert card.
We take a lot more card than cash now.
If ground was both on matchday I would guess at more card than cash.


Cashing up is a lot easier and quicker, banking quicker as less cash to bank.

The point I am making is that people should a choice as how they pay .This pandemic being used by some to hurry the inevitable demise of cash but please wait until percentage of population who are careless etc to shrink further.It is just nor fair on them.

Dont agree with it full stop.But if your pre ordering drinks etc, to collect from the fanzone.surely this area is no different to any other area of the ground and will have a capacity figure.So what happens if its reached its capacity and no more people are allowed in.You can't collect your food and drink..

Exactly whose idea is this then the £50 card for the child? I took my kids to the football throughout their formative years and very grateful they were and always will be for the whole matchday experience bestowed upon them. I cannot for one second imagine the atmosphere in our humble home, then none too far from Holker Street, when myself or their Mother asked either of the aforementioned children at 2.15PM on a matchday 'where's your £50 card at...?' and the child's quizzical face told you everything you need to know about kids and their possessions in their early years.
In our house at the time I could only begin to compare it to the Barnstenworth FC Monty-Python sketch following another home defeat!
I was one of the few on here objecting to the hastily rearranged rules regarding the rip-off ticketing arrangements for trust members last season. I wrote then that the next time the club got the begging-bowl out, I, for one, would not be so forthcoming with any future donations.
This merely confirms my initial suspicions about those who are now making these awful decisions that are now beginning to affect us all.
As the old saying goes:
Be careful how you treat people on the way up.
You just might need them on the way back down!

Why all the complaints about youngsters? 13 year olds should surely be accompanied by an adult so no problem. I mean when left on their own they might form a gang and try to aggravate the away supporters at the Holker St end. As for the adults perhaps Levi could run some training sessions
