Barrow’s season summed up in one match last night! I hated it and loved it, loved it then hated it then loved it even loads more.

MoTM rightly Gordon, consistently man-handled in most games he plays and generally gets nowt from the refs who are quick to punish him for anything he does in a similar vein. Really happy for him that his unrelenting commitment in chasing down lost causes finally got him and the team some reward last night.

Hopefully that will give the lads the boost they need to take on the last 3 matches and get the results we all want!

Gordon never gives up .
If we had a big centre forward for him to link up with we would have alot more goals.

The question is who plays Saturday as he cannot play against his home club Walsall.

To repeat the first word in many of the posts above, wow wow wow!
Living in Derbyshire means that I get to more away matches than home, but I decided to go up last night, partly because I can’t make the next two home matches and this might be our last league match in my lifetime. Well, that was an inspired choice! Driving back up the A590 to the M6 was a joy, wondering what the mood was like in all those Oldham-bound cars.
I was worried when I saw how thin it was on the terraces, but the atmosphere was brilliant (at least from 80 mins). The Oldham fans were pretty quiet apart from when they scored - imagine 600 Barrow fans at an away match, it would be much noisier.
Josh Gordon was a pest as always, but I was impressed with McDonald and Anderson at the back - McDonald could have got MoM if Gordon hadn’t. MJ was OK, but he would be better in midfield as he didn’t look as calm as usual. As always, I like McCann and Smith always gives us some energy (he might have got that penalty if his dive hadn’t been so exaggerated, but that might have deprived us of the last drama!).
All 3 goals were well taken - I was worried when Fletcher took a touch rather than hitting it first time, but that was very calm. I understand the comment on the Oldham forum that the ball hit Gordon’s arm when he charged it down, but it was the only decision he got from the ref all night. Fletcher should start on Saturday as Gordon can’t play against Walsall. Why did Newby go off? I think he can be a game-changer when he plays like that.

Newby went off at 3-2 as they wanted to get another defender on.

Another plus from last night. When we had the lead near the end of the game we wellied it away from our goal. Not pretty football but effective at that stage, rather than trying to play it out.

Whilst. Newby is not a goal score I think he is a sub to come in and put a zip into the team.
He worries players with his crosses and I think also upsets them when he runs down the wing.

We need to hope the results go for us but I want this put to bed before our game against Newport.
I remember we had to beat a Chester under 21 team as they had financial restrictions.
If we won we would definitely stay up,typical Barrow kids with a heart beat us.

Too surreal for words really - - - but I'll have a go - - - that is probably the most unreal finish to a game of football that I have ever seen in my life. The only other contender would be when we led Tranmere 3-1 going into stoppage time a few years ago and ended up losing 3-4. But that was a negative outcome and this one was positive.

Am I going to be honest here? Yes. At 80 minutes it looked like the story of our whole season, meaning that it looked like we wouldn't ever score in the proverbial month of Sundays. At 80 minutes, if I were a gambling man, you could have offered me the best odds imaginable on a Barrow goal and I wouldn't have wasted a single pound, so unlikely appeared to be the chances. But then in the twelve or so minutes that followed the cows came home. And while we waited for one bus three came almost at once. Beyond imagination. Only the coming weeks will tell us if Fletcher has got us out of prison.

Exciting? Unquestionably. Stranger than fiction? Definitely. But, very coldly, we had better get our feet back on the ground very quickly because just as last night was an absolute must-win so is Saturday against Walsall.
