Have you seen the Sun article.

RACE ABUSE HELL FOR MACC SKIPPER

MACC skipper Nat Brown was subjected to racist abuse during his side’s FA Cup draw at Barrow.
The centre-back was called “a monkey” by several Barrow fans as he walked out for the second half.
[SwearFilter] disgraceful, I'm fuming me, cant get over it. Race abuse hell. No mention of allegation or that he claims this with no witnesses at all. From past experience our supporters wouldnt try and cover it up. when it has happend in the past it as been a very small minority and we on here have been the first to point it out on here and condem it.... but this time no one heard a peep.

Race abuse hell... i cant get over that. shameful. not that i expected anything less from that scummy rag.

2nd point is to our club representatives. Dont be coming out with the same old cliches like "its not acceptable' and all this shite. we all know this. Find out if it did happen and if there is no evidence to prove so other than one mans word then take it further. Take action against Brown because this kinda finger pointing cant go on. It damaging ppl's reputations.

Shame on both him and his manger too. If this has happend there are proper avenues to go down and our club will work with them every step of the way. The way to deal with it is not to shame clubs via a media circus act and there own personal kangaroo court.

Fuming me man.

some idiot on Macc forum has wrote

"Whilst listening to BBC Radio Cumbria, you could clearly hear some one in the crowd shout "Is it because he's black?" when the ref failed to book one of our players. This was about mid way through the first half if I remember correctly."

Just so I've got this right please correct me if i'm wrong..

Someone claimed someone shouted something but doesn't know what was shouted or who said it and doesn't want to take it further. And made no attempt to find out who said it and by the way only he heard it and no one else in the world has even mentioned it.Is that right?

Btw that sun article is sickening. How can they just get away with writing blatant lies. This country is in a bad place.

Blown out of all proportion by the press and Macc fans. Looks like they are letting their frustration with this tie and their team boil over and are aiming abuse where it is not warranted.

If anything was said the club needs to identify what was said and by who and it appears they are endeavoring to do so. It appears from comments that they (Macc manager and player involved, Brown?) know what was said. From what they say it was not chant as some of the Macc fans are claiming but sounded like a single person calling the player a monkey (See BBC article). Does not sound good but the club are clearly taking it seriously, they even reminded those in attendance last night during the game. There were a lot of people there that are usually not present at games and a few hot heads that were shouting every expletive under the sun at the players. Pretty sure if it was said and they do nail someone for it, it will not likely be a regular.

Find it interesting that a Macc fan claims to have heard racist chanting on the radio? :? Is that true? The Macc fan claims "Is it because he's black?" was being called? I don't recall any racist chanting within ear shot but it was quite noisy last night you would almost have to be on top of it to hear anything. Did anyone listening hear this alleged chant? On the popular side near the press box, chants of "you soft/fat bast'd" could regularly be heard when they kept diving. I'm aware that the word "fat" sung by a crowd slightly out of sync can sometimes sound a little like the word "black" is being used.

All rather sad and I hope it is resolved as best as possible by the club. Barrow football are not racists, FACT.

On a lighter note should I stop my wife calling my son a "cheeky monkey", or can she get away with it because he is white? :? you don't have to answer that.

The Macclesfield players were subjected to a large degree of abuse because they were cheating at every opportunity- but not racist abuse. This is a massive stich up, it's easy to make accusations with no proof. Do we now believe everything any player says without checking the facts? And the idea that the player in question didn't want to 'make anything of it' , as put on their forum is just laughable frankly.

As for lazy journalists, they just trot out the headline. And anyone who believes The Sun is an idiot anyway.

The club will have to bow their heads and take it. That sadly is the way of the world.

We don't have to take it lying down.

Don't know what highlights this arsehole has been watching:

The FA though should look at doing something. Watch the highlights, they are booing Brown for talkin to the ref after their goal and you can hear the monkey noises from the crowd.

All I can say is , I listened to RC and my ears are colour blind and I never heard anything. Just as a side , I was about to write on the Evening Mail website , the very same concerns I have that if this is not proved , will any action be taken against Brown , as the damage is already done , as the club's reputation has already been tainted!
On the positive side.......... just think two FA Cup games in 8 days............ see you all at Macca................. :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:
