Although it's early season and patience is required, I agree with a lot of the comments above. We must improve.

A poor game of too much long ball. On the evidence of last night only, these looked like two below-average teams set for lower-half finishes. Within the mediocrity, Guiseley arguably created the better chances.

We were unconvincing in possession, lacking cohesion and confidence.

Usually the final stages of a night match at Holker Street are grandstand with the threat of goals, but I didn't get the sense a late winner was on the way.

The players, Grand and Ashton aside, were quiet, maybe betraying some uncertainty. So were we, the fans. Our home games are vital. We need to make the precious home 90 minutes count and a large part of achieving that is by having louder home support. In turn, the fans need greater inspiration from the style and purpose of the team.

There's a lot of negativity on here, for most correspondents, based on the two home games they've seen - one a win, the other a draw. Yes, on the balance of play we could have lost both games but that we didn't shows a certain level of resolve (and fortune that we certainly didn't get at FGR). We'll have a better idea over the next few weeks about how far the current squad can take us - we should remain constructively critical and patient.

Seems to be theres a certain group of posters on here that just want rid of anyone who wants to say things how they are.

Saying fans are too negative then suggesting they don't support the team is pretty negative in itself. Theres really no need at all.
Take a day off from talking total bollox will you, I have said that ONCE & apologized, Your spamming this forum with tripe & your circle of friends back you up, its what youth/social media do & that's fair enough, but youth tend to have a narrower way of looking at things due to age & inexperience while older poster through life experiences look at the broader picture & understand that to make an omelet you have to break a few eggs. You seem to want everything perfect, every little detail to be covered which is not real world life, things take time & sometimes certain area's suffer (comm side) while other area's (building the club for the longer term) take preference until you manage to then juggle it around and then give more attention to those area's that suffered initially, Leave the 3 year old whining stamping your feet child act out for a while and try a different perspective for a while.

I'd love PC to give you a role within the club so we can bombard you with frivolous inquiries like your I am taking our group booking to Fylde bollox & see you in faultless action
Nice one Mike, I reckon that could be post of the season.....
We have had to read bollox for the last few months and when the football starts we still have to read it.
Bet a former member of this forum never went to Fylde......All talk
School starts again in September so only a couple of weeks and a former member of this forum won't be posting during the day.

Play long ball all day for me if it gives Cook/ Walker/ Grimes the service (see note*). Two great goals scored v Dover with two very different approaches. A beautifully weighted ball from Ashton to Cook which caused all sorts of panic for the first and some sublime movement for the second. Both effective. Just sticking up for the long ball! there's stats on it and all sorts. - *note long ball different to aimless punts up field.

For every goal we get about 20 long balls that result in nothing.

Teams in this league will eat them up.

the second goal was a cross from pilkington and as you state first was a weighted ball neither was a "long ball",i think you know the difference so why write the above?

100 long balls = 5 goals then, so long ball it is :scarf: . You tactical genius young Arron.

Ok well the long "passes" forward can be effective is what I was trying to promote. As expertly done by Mr Ashton / Cook. Although the long ball style can get the goals.

Keeping the ball on the deck, good movement, quick incisive passing can also get the goals AND it's a hellova lot better to watch

See this is the problem at the moment. Complete assumption that we will stay up in this league (and 4 season aswell!)

This is a tough league, long balls won't work as often as they did in conf north.
Some of the things you've been talking about re: communications etc make sense... but when you've got something negative to say about literally everything, it gets boring and detracts from the real points you do have on some issues.

4 games is nowhere near enough to draw any meaningful conclusions. If we're doing shite in in a month, have a whinge.

From the start Ive said give the side 10 games and see how we are from there.

Taking it as near certainty that we will stay in this league with the squad we have is Naive. Thinking we will be in and around the play offs is insane.

Im calling for realism. Thats all. We have to be realistic . Edmo should be evaluating performances after each game and improving in the next. If after 10 games we are playing long ball football still and bypassing our centre mids / playing left footed centre midfielders on the right wing then we will see what position we are.

P.S I can say whatever I like on here. Just like you can. It's a forum.

We played long ball crap pretty much all of last season with McMillan, Taylor and Grand being the main culprits- difference was were playing crap and this year we are not.

We were playing crap teams I assume you mean? Its true. We were very lucky to win the league last year. There wasn't many games where we completely destroyed teams with passing and game away from the game where we wowed the fans.

Fylde were a very decent football side last year. We tried long balls against them on both meetings last year and lost both games. The home game was quite funny. We tried long balls with the wind in the first half and they got swatted back, then in the second half we did it again against the wind! Thats no way to learn that!

We can't be playing that sort of football against sides like Grimsby, FGR , Cheltenham, or Tranmere or theres going to be a few more 4-0's , 4-1's etc.

We need some flair and pace out wide and some creativity in the centre of the park. Weve got players who can play good football on the deck but our style of play is literally going over their head.
