How about a bit of credit for the quick thinking and well executed long ball from Chris Clements leading up to that third goal?

Why not?

Saturday v Aldershot might just be one of the most significant games this season. We have seen a few unbeaten runs in recent times and with a more stable ship now I think we have all the capability to go on another. Macclesfield might be our Gettysberg in terms of this campaign which I think saw the men in blue triumph after an inspirational speech from their charismatic (Cont. Pg. 94)

Never been a fan of Hughes, too slow imo but credit where it's due, against LO he was good and on Saturday, where he does
not have to cover as much ground, he was excellent. He used his experience and also was barking out instructions
to the others at the back.As others have said we've been lacking leaders. His commitment has never been in doubt.
Maybe he could turn into a better version of McNulty, certainly can pass the ball better.

Liam Hughes will never be a better centre back than Steve McNulty

Openly admits playing out wide is where he struggles.. He prefers playing central so if he can get his fitness sorted (he is looking more trim) he could maybe be the fighter in midfield we need?
Despite what people think, he does actually love this pace and in fairness, gives his all..

He’s not quick or agile enough for midfield, out wide or in the middle. I’ve said before he has a reasonable footballing brain and not bad with the ball, but with the running required (with and without the ball) he couldn’t last the pace. I’m not sure about centre half either to be honest, but without question I take my hat off to him for his attitude and performance on Saturday.
I suppose the best judge will be AP.

He played over 150 games in midfield for Cambridge both in this league and that above, even a stint in the SPL. If he gets a consistent run of games I think he'll be more than adequate.

Hughes was played out wide using his height to gain knock ons and possession from line throws. Strange tactic but it was effective as most teams had full backs and midfielders a great deal smaller.
Cox would not play him elsewhere.
Hughes is a good footballer at our level and on Saturday showed that playing main centre back. He gave it all.
