Please DO NOT get the council involved we will end up with a cheap stadium at a high rentEABluebird wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 6:45 pmAlso I believe that Boston Utd’s new ground is council owned same as many other if the new stadiums throughout the leagues with the club as anchor tenants, the BoD would not have to fund the whole project themselves, it would require outside investment. It’s a well worn path that many clubs have had to go down I believe the council would be supportive and it could well be the centre piece of any docks redevelopment.PerthBluebird wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 3:56 pm Also worth noting Morecambes old stadium was bought by sainsburys for a hefty price.
It just needs to will to do it and the belief that we CAN do it.
Matchday in L2, is it going to be much different

I would not entertain going to the so called Marina project, there are still problems with Asbestos in the soil there that's why its taking so long to get it off the ground, I would not consider letting the council anywhere near a ground new or old development it loses you money as they usually want the Bar receipts Etc., as per Gateshead, one I would say might be an option for a new ground would be the land opposite to Holker St on Wilkie road, the old bus depot.

I don't know where people think the council has all this money to plough into a new stadium.Time Lord wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 9:42 amPlease DO NOT get the council involved we will end up with a cheap stadium at a high rentEABluebird wrote: ↑Sun Jul 05, 2020 6:45 pm

There won't be a new ground built or a stadium share with the rugby lets juts get on with trying to sort Holker street out bit by bit.
Also buy a Euromillions ticket tomorrow £127 million would give you enough money to build the club a nice ground.

Planning permission already given for housing on that site.jaycarter wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 11:12 am I would not entertain going to the so called Marina project, there are still problems with Asbestos in the soil there that's why its taking so long to get it off the ground, I would not consider letting the council anywhere near a ground new or old development it loses you money as they usually want the Bar receipts Etc., as per Gateshead, one I would say might be an option for a new ground would be the land opposite to Holker St on Wilkie road, the old bus depot.
No site will be ideal but a redeveloped Holker St is the best option IMHO
Just say no to VAR

Consolidate in League 2 and redevelop Holker St. Not keen on soulless flat pack stadiums. They might look better superficially but they have no identity. Bournemouth attained the Premier League on 10k attendances. We wouldn't need a larger ground than that and could adapt Holker St to accommodate close to 10k.

Bournemouth attained the Premier League because they have a VERY rich Russian owner ploughing mega amounts of dubious money into the club and for no other reason. However, I agree that there is nothing to suggest that Barrow would only need a capacity greater than the mentioned 6,500 in very rare cases.+[ [[Kris]] ]+ wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 1:30 pm Consolidate in League 2 and redevelop Holker St. Not keen on soulless flat pack stadiums. I think the only way we’d get anywhere near a 10,000 capacity would be by bulldozing the CrossBar and building a new stand at that end of the ground.

Cant see why we want anywhere close to 10 000 anything in the current 6000-7000 would be enough

Much prefer the way Accrington have gone about things as they’ve progressed up the leagues; rather than build a full new ground they’ve just done it bit by bit, stand by stand and refuse to spend fortunes doing so

Yep..and when new money comes in (transfer fees, bumper crowds etc) it’s immediately hypothecated to the next job so there’s a clear link between success and development.
Lots of clubs could learn a thing or two from ASFC.

I think this was the intention under the failed NHS collaboration. Supporters will remember that the club were asking something in the region of £600k to buy the site / clear debts at the time which the NHS found to be too much as there were plenty of cheaper sites locally available for their super-surgery.
The timing was unfortunate as a few years later Papa Cass came on the scene and stumped up the cash to buy the club. Had he been able to dove-tail with the NHS proposal I think it could have been highly beneficial for the club and both parties.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

Hypothecated? Have we brought back the Word Of the Week option?Lancaster Branch wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 3:34 pm Yep..and when new money comes in (transfer fees, bumper crowds etc) it’s immediately hypothecated to the next job so there’s a clear link between success and development.

Re: Matchday in L2, is it going to be much different
It may seem strange but actually at present councils have access to vast sums of money at negligible interest rates and most are willing to get involved in schemes but their aim is that the project whatever it is generates them a long term income it is in effect a way of transferring income into the day to day coffers from the capital side.barrowfan_chris wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 12:22 pmI don't know where people think the council has all this money to plough into a new stadium.

Blackpool Council are the experts in this, they borrow the money and then in effect lend it on to just about anybody who has a project in mind that will improve the town and in the past having the council involved could also attract EU grant aid reducing the cost and the council get a cut of that too But presently the leader of Blackpool council Simon Blackburn is mysteriously suspended and it remains to be seen whether it's linked to this activity in any way.
But a word of warning in that you may remember from last year the saga of the Workington Stadium which was eventually pulled despite the money the council stood to make out of it in that the actual cost to build was going to be 28 million but at the end of the arrangement a total of 90 million would have been repaid over 25 years. It was a very complicated arrangement where the developers became the management company and Energy coast were tied up in there as well.
I.d say if it was a simple arrangement where the council borrow the money at negligible interest rates and then lend it on at a couple of points higher giving the council an income for the next 25 years its the sort of deal worth doing but to get involved in Schemes like the Workington one is total madness.

Yes, I wasn't suggesting Bournemouth are funded on attendance income alone, rather we could still be ambitious with moderate ground improvements. I'd rather we play in the National League than have a dodgy benefactor. Unfortunately fans don't usually get a say in it.russell_anderson wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 1:40 pmBournemouth attained the Premier League because they have a VERY rich Russian owner ploughing mega amounts of dubious money into the club and for no other reason. I can’t believe the crazy idea of sharing, moving or renting the ground has come up again. In my opinion it would be nothing short of madness and would eventually lead to the demise of our club
